Hibi 10 Minutes Aroma "Garden" Peony

Hibi are Japanese scent matches that light just like ordinary matches – except they then continue to smoulder as incense sticks, releasing fragrance for up to 10 minutes. Each box contains 8 hand-crafted sticks with Peony scent plus a heat-resistant foam rubber coaster. Hibi emerged from the meeting of two craft traditions in Japan's Hyogo Prefecture: incense stick production on Awaji Island and match manufacturing from Harima.

Use & Tips

• Lighting: Light the stick on the striking surface of the box – just like an ordinary match. Blow out the flame briefly or shake it so the stick begins to smoulder.
• Placement: Place the smouldering stick on the supplied foam rubber coaster. The aluminium foil lining protects surfaces beneath from heat and ash.
• Room size: The fragrance unfolds best in smaller rooms – a study, a quiet bathroom or a bedroom are suitable environments for the 10-minute scent effect.
• Timing: Hibi is ideal for short, mindful pauses – before reading, after a work session, while having tea. The fixed burn time gives the pause a natural framework.
