The Kuru Toga mechanical pencil with rotation mechanism rotates the pencil lead each time it touches the paper, preventing the tip from becoming chisel-shaped and crumbling or breaking. The rotation of the lead through Kuru Toga's gear mechanism creates a cone-shaped tip that draws a clean line. This Kuru Toga Advance upgrade model features an updated ‘W Speed’ mechanism that rotates the lead twice as fast compared to other Kuru Toga pens, so the lead is sharpened twice as fast. Standard Kuru Toga pens rotate the lead every 40 strokes, whereas the Kuru Toga Advance rotates the lead every 20 strokes. The Advance mechanism is made of metal parts for smoother and more reliable performance. The Advance also has a sliding refill sleeve (guide tube) that protects the refill while writing. As you write and the lead shortens, the sleeve slides into the pencil and shortens along with the lead. This means that you can write continuously without having to press the push button to lengthen the lead. The sleeve can be fully retracted when the pen is not in use to protect the refill in your pocket or pencil case.
