Kaweco Mechanical Pencil Sport STEEL (0.7 mm)
The Kaweco Sport STEEL mechanical pencil is crafted entirely from solid, brushed stainless steel – a compact, octagonal pocket size with considerable weight to it. Japanese precision mechanics deliver exact, consistent lead advancement with every press. At 0.7 mm line width and supplied with HB leads, it's ready to write straight from the box.
Features
- Brushed solid stainless steel: The raw stainless steel body is CNC-machined and receives a matte, cool finish through brushing – grippy without sticking, and resistant to fingerprints.
- Weight as a writing aid: At around 41 grams, the pencil applies light pressure to the paper through its weight alone. This reduces the active pressure needed from your hand and enables relaxed, extended writing and drawing without fatigue.
- Japanese precision mechanics: The mechanism comes from PRECO/Iwasaki and advances the lead with the tightest tolerances – no play, no rattle, no jamming.
- 0.7 mm HB – versatile line width: Fine enough for clear lines in notes and sketches, robust enough not to snap on the first angled stroke. HB is designed for standard paper and light pressure.
- Octagonal Kaweco Sport design: The eight-sided body prevents rolling and provides a secure grip – even in compact formats.
- No sharpening required: The mechanics keep the lead at a constant, defined length. No sharpening, no shavings, always ready to use.
- Compact pocket format: 105 mm length – fits in any shirt or trouser pocket, notebook spine, or pencil case.
Use & Tips
- Sketching and technical drawing: 0.7 mm HB is a classic weight for architectural and design sketches. The pencil's weight enables even line work without hand tension.
- Extended writing sessions: Those who write frequently – journaling, brainstorming, bullet journaling – benefit from the reduced effort needed thanks to the pencil's weight. Less pressure on fingers and wrist over longer periods.
- Lead capacity note: Don't load more than 3 leads at once to avoid jamming. Leads are inserted from the front through the lead tube (unscrew the cap).
- Paper: HB leads work well on smooth and slightly textured paper alike. On very smooth, calendered paper the line appears particularly fine and clean.
- Surface care: Stainless steel changes little with use. Simply wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth – no oils needed.
- Storage: Thanks to the push mechanism, no cap is needed – the button sits at the top and protects the system from accidental activation in your pocket.
For Drawing Enthusiasts
The Kaweco Sport STEEL body is machined from a solid stainless steel block using CNC technology, then brushed. The result is a surface that changes little over years – unlike brass, copper or bronze, which develop patina. Stainless steel feels cooler to the touch and shows no discolouration. Assembly is done by hand in Nuremberg, with special care given to the Japanese mechanics: minimal manufacturing tolerances ensure that lead and guide tube are precisely matched – you feel this during advance as a clean, effortless click with no lateral play.
