Uni Colored Pencil Set Emott No 2 (4 pcs.)
The Uni EMOTT mechanical coloured pencils combine the concept of a mechanical pencil with the expressive power of coloured leads – in a sleek, white body with a square cross-section that prevents rolling across the writing surface. The No. 2 Tropical set includes four warm, sun-saturated colours: fuchsia, light green, light pink and orange. The 0.9-mm NanoDiamond coloured lead delivers rich, highly legible strokes that feel similar to a classic coloured pencil – with the advantage of an always uniformly fine, sharp line without the need for sharpening.
Features
- 0.9-mm NanoDiamond coloured lead: The lead contains tiny diamond particles that make it more resistant to breakage than conventional coloured leads in narrower gauges. The result is a consistent, colour-rich stroke – also usable with varying pressure for shading effects.
- Water-resistant lead: The coloured lead is water-resistant and is therefore also suitable for mixed techniques with watercolours or water-soluble inks without drawn lines bleeding or smudging.
- Erasability: On most smooth papers, the lines can be removed with an eraser – on highly absorbent or rougher papers, erasability may be limited.
- Retractable protective sleeve: Pressing the cap extends the lead; holding the cap pressed retracts the lead and sleeve together. This protects the lead tip when carried in a bag or case.
- Colour marking on the barrel: Each pencil has a coloured band below the cap – instant visual identification without removing the cap or extending the pencil tip.
- Integrated eraser: Under the cap is a small eraser specifically matched to the EMOTT lead.
- Stand included: Pencils and spare leads snap directly into the supplied white plastic stand – keeping your set upright and organised on your desk.
Use & Tips
- Bullet journalling and planning: The four Tropical colours are perfect for colour-coding monthly overviews, habit trackers or weekly planners – the fine 0.9-mm line remains legible even in tight grids.
- Sketching and shading: By varying pressure, you can create lighter and darker tones with the same lead – useful for thumbnails, outline sketches and simple hatching.
- Layering and blending: The colours layer well together; with a colourless alcohol blender, transitions can be softened. Orange, light pink and light green particularly blend well to create new intermediate tones.
- Hand lettering: The consistently sharp lead allows clean letter lines without sharpening – an advantage over classic wooden coloured pencils, where line width increases with wear.
- Mixed media with watercolour: Since the lead is water-resistant, watercolour or water-diluted inks can be glazed over the pencil lines without the outlines becoming soft or fuzzy.
- Refilling: When the inserted leads are used up, eight spare leads (2 of each colour × 4 colours) sit in the lead holder of the stand – directly accessible without searching. Alternatively, standard 0.9-mm coloured leads are compatible.
For Drawing Enthusiasts
The NanoDiamond technology in the 0.9-mm lead addresses the main problem of classic coloured leads in mechanical pencils: brittleness. The diamond particles embedded in the lead increase hardness, so that even with firm pressure – such as when building up colour areas – no lead breakage occurs. The 0.9-mm format transfers more pigment per stroke onto paper than narrower 0.5-mm or 0.7-mm leads and allows faster area coverage whilst maintaining comparable line precision. The colours of the Tropical set are sun-warm and vibrant – fuchsia and orange remain luminous even on cream-coloured paper, whilst light green and light pink provide more subtle accents that work beautifully for labelling and marking in notebooks without appearing dominant.
