The Stalogy 018 Editor's Series 365 Days is a Japanese notebook that functions as both a yearly planner and free writing journal – with one page per day, but without a fixed start date. The gently sun-yellow softcover made of paper and fabric gives the notebook a bright, serene character. Inside: 368 pages with a 4 mm dot grid in delicate light grey – subtle enough to barely be noticeable, yet precise enough for clean layouts and straight lines.

• 4 mm dot grid, light grey: The dot grid is printed in a discreet, understated manner. Dots instead of lines allow for freetext, sketches and structure on the same page without visually overwhelming the writing.
• Undated layout: Month, day of the week and date appear at the top of each page – to be circled or underlined as you wish. The notebook can be started on any day of the year without wasting pages.
• Hour scale on page margin (0–24): A subtle timeline running from 0 to 24 hours lines the outer edge of each page. Those using the page as a daily planner have a quiet orientation aid – those who ignore it will barely notice it.
• 52 g/m² paper, fountain pen friendly: The paper is very thin – similar to lightweight bible paper – yet reliably resists ink bleed-through. Fountain pen inks show minimal ghosting but do not bleed through the page. Not archival quality.
• Sewn binding with flat spine: The notebook opens completely flat and can be folded back almost 360 degrees – comfortable for left-handers or single-handed writing. The sewn binding holds reliably together even with intensive year-round use.
• Yellow cover (paper/fabric): The softcover made of paper and fabric has a subtle texture and a stable yet flexible feel. The yellow colour is clear and fresh without being harsh – distinctive on the shelf, pleasant on the desk.
• Margin guideline columns: Subtle edge markings make it easy to divide the page into two or four columns – helpful for layouts, list structures or rapid logging systems.

Use & Tips

• Fountain pens and ink: The 52 g/m² paper works surprisingly well with fountain pens. Dry nibs (fine to medium point, with lower ink flow) deliver the cleanest results. Very wet inks or broad nibs may cause stronger ghosting – bleed-through is usually not an issue.
• Bullet journaling and daily logging: The combination of dot grid, undated daily header and hour scale makes this notebook an excellent everyday companion for structured writing without rigid constraints.
• Sketches and micro-layouts: The 4 mm dot grid works well for small diagrams, floor plans or interface sketches – the 4 mm spacing is tight enough for detail yet generous enough for legible text.
• Year-end review: A fully used 365-day notebook becomes a compact archive at year's end – only 14 mm thick despite 368 pages. Those collecting multiple annual editions have a manageable, space-saving chronicle.

Stalogy is a collaboration between the Nitto Group and Japanese creative director Manabu Mizuno – the aim: stationery with good design and genuine function at a reasonable price. The name combines "Standard" and "Technology". The 018 Editor's Series was awarded the Design Award for Excellence at the Japanese Stationery Award (23rd edition). The sewn binding looks like perfect binding from the outside – flat spine, clean finish – but is sewn and therefore more durable than pure adhesive binding with heavy long-term use.
