Traveler's Notebook Passport "013" MD creme

Refill 013 brings cream-colored MD Paper in Passport format – a blank notebook with 64 pages for the Traveler's Notebook Passport Size. MD Paper was developed specifically for fountain pen writing in the 1960s and has been the cornerstone of Traveler's Notebook Refills ever since. The warm cream coloring emerged as its own variant alongside white MD Paper and emphasizes the paper's warm, organic character even more strongly.

Application & Tips

• Fountain pen and ink: The refill harmonizes particularly well with fine to medium-width nibs. Wet, highly shading-active inks show beautiful transitions on the cream-white background – blue-black looks particularly classic here. Flex nibs and broad nibs also work reliably, as long as the ink doesn't run extremely wet.
• Other writing instruments: Gel pens, fineliners, and soft pencils also write smoothly on the slightly smooth surface. Ballpoint pen refills with oil-based paste glide without resistance.
• Combine multiple refills: Those who want to add a second notebook to the cover – for example, a lined or dotgrid refill alongside the blank 013 – can connect both with the Traveler's Connecting Rubber Band (Passport Size, sold separately). This creates a modular system for different uses within the same cover.
• Travel companion: Blank pages are suitable for spontaneous map sketches, city maps, collected stamps and stickers, or simply unplanned thoughts on the go – the format is passport-sized and can be carried next to the passport in an interior pocket.
• White fountain pen ink: On the cream-white paper, white fountain pen ink creates barely visible accents – not ideal for subtle highlights. Dark or highly pigmented inks work better for high-contrast effects.

MD Paper is a proprietary development of Designphil (Traveler's Company). The surface is lightly calendered – smooth enough for sharp writing strokes, but not so smooth that pencil or pen can't find grip. The paper is acid-free, which slows yellowing and brittleness over the years. The cream variant differs from white MD Paper only in its warmer color tone, not in altered surface texture or weight – both variants respond identically to ink and pen pressure.
