Traveler's Notebook Passport "018" Accordion
The Accordion-Refill 018 is a folded paper insert in Passport format for the Traveler's Notebook. 13 blank pages are folded accordion-style – compact when closed, a continuous strip when unfolded. The paper is thicker than typical notebook stock and designed for watercolour paints.
Features
- Accordion fold: The 13 pages are folded in leporello style and fit neatly into your Passport Notebook when closed. When unfolded, they create one continuous surface – ideal for panoramic layouts that extend beyond a single page.
- Thick, watercolour-friendly paper: The paper is noticeably heavier than standard refill paper and accepts wet media such as watercolour, gouache or ink without immediately becoming saturated. Collages with adhesive or glued-on tickets, stickers and photos work equally well on it.
- Blank layout: No lines, no dots – the open space allows for sketches, maps, timelines and free notes without forcing any visual structure.
- Passport format: Fits perfectly into any Traveler's Notebook Passport cover and has the same external dimensions as a passport, making optimal use of space in your notebook.
- Made in Japan: Traveler's Company produces this refill in Japan; the clean, even folds with precise creases keep the leporello in shape even after repeated opening.
Use & Tips
- Travel documentation: Use the unfolded strip as a travel route – arrange places, dates and small sketches chronologically one after another so your entire journey is visible at a glance.
- City maps and charts: Create a hand-drawn map or floor plan across multiple sections; the accordion structure allows for overview formats that remain compact when closed in your notebook.
- Photo and ticket collage: Stick admission tickets, train tickets, stamps or small photographs directly onto the pages. The heavy paper supports the weight of adhesive without warping.
- Year planner strip: Use the 13 pages as a continuous timeline for monthly goals or annual themes – unfolded on your desk, folded away in your notebook.
- Watercolour and gouache: Those illustrating with watercolours can treat individual sections as standalone mini-paintings or use the entire unfolded surface as one large canvas.
- Writing instruments: Fountain pens glide smoothly across the firm, smooth paper; inks dry slightly more slowly due to the thicker paper weight – a brief wait before closing is recommended. Gel and pigment liners work equally well.
For Traveler's Notebook Enthusiasts
The Refill 018 was originally part of the limited "B-Sides & Rarities" collection from Traveler's Company and has been added to the regular range due to demand. The leporello construction differs fundamentally from bound or stitched refills: there are no page margins created by binding, and each section is printable on both sides – the back of the fold creates a second, fully usable strip. The heavier paper weight approaches watercolour-suitable weights, which is unusual for a notebook insert and enables the use of wet media that would immediately damage thin journal paper.
