The Hobonichi Cover Marine Stripes in A6 format is made from sailcloth – a tight, structured fabric with a blue-and-white striped pattern that evokes summer holidays by the sea. The material has a water-repellent finish that causes small mishaps – a damp table, a few drops of rain – to simply bead off. The cover fits the Hobonichi Techo Planner A6 and is supplied as cover only.
Features
- Sailcloth material with blue-and-white striped pattern: The tightly woven sailcloth fabric lies stiff and stable in the hand, gives the Techo significantly more support as a hardcover replacement, and feels pleasant to write on even without a table.
- Water-repellent finish: Light moisture beads off – with a wet café table or short rain showers, dabbing is sufficient. Not complete wet weather protection, but practical enough for backpack or handbag.
- Integrated pen holder: The holder accommodates pens up to 13.5 mm in diameter. It is tight at first; for those who want to speed up the break-in process, roll it briefly in your hand.
- Two blue bookmark ribbons with white H-charm: Matching the marine design, practical for quickly opening the monthly overview and current day page simultaneously.
- Suitable for Planner and Original A6: The cover fits both A6 book blocks – ideal for those who buy book block and cover separately or swap them annually.
Application & Tips
- Pen selection: The holder is designed for a diameter up to 13.5 mm. Slim fineliners, mechanical pencils, or thin ballpoint pens fit easily; pens with textured rubber zones or non-round cross-sections may be harder to remove.
- Breaking in the pen holder: The holder is very tight when new. Rolling it a few times between your palms gently loosens the fabric – gentler than repeatedly inserting a thick pen.
- Cover on cover: Due to the thicker material layer, this cover does not fit into an additional outer cover (cover on cover). Forcing it can damage both products.
- Care: The sailcloth fabric attracts lint. Avoid velcro fasteners in bags; if soiled, dab with a slightly damp cloth, do not rub. Do not store in damp or hot environments.
- Year change: The cover is not year-specific – the book block is changed annually, the cover remains. This allows it to be used across multiple year editions.
For Techo Enthusiasts
Hobonichi covers are handcrafted, which includes minor manufacturing tolerances: The interior lining is not always perfectly taut – this is not a defect, but a typical characteristic of this production method. The Marine Stripes design first appeared in 2023 and has continued in the range since then; sailcloth is unusual in the Hobonichi universe – most covers use leather, fabric, or plastic, while the tight sailcloth produces a noticeably firmer, less flexible carrying feel.
