The Midori Pocket Diary Mini Dog 2027 is a palm-sized monthly planner in mini format, with pages illustrated by lively dog drawings from Japanese illustrator Natsumi Teraoka. Printed on Midori's own MD Paper, sewn binding and wrapped in a soft PVC cover with integrated pen holder – this calendar is designed for everyday portability whilst featuring paper that can handle far more than you'd expect from a pocket diary.

Features

  • MD Paper – ink-resistant and nib-friendly: Midori's own MD Paper is a soft cream white with a silky-smooth surface that shows minimal bleed-through or feathering even with wet ink. Fountain pens, fineliners and gel pens glide smoothly across it; the line stays sharp.
  • Sewn binding with 180° flat-lie: Pages are sewn, not just glued. The booklet lies completely flat when opened – no finger needed to hold the page down, no lost margins.
  • Monthly block layout January 2027 – March 2028: Each month gets a double-page spread in grid format, supplemented by a yearly overview and additional pages for notes and personal data. 48 pages total – compact yet complete for a full year plus overhang.
  • Index tabs: Die-cut tabs for each month allow you to flip directly to any month without searching.
  • PVC cover with pen holder: The transparent outer sleeve protects the inner booklet from wear and moisture; the attached pen holder accommodates a slim pen or fineliner nib directly on the diary.
  • Illustrations by Natsumi Teraoka: The dog motifs change with the seasons – round, colour-rich figures with rainbow outlines that give each monthly page its own character.

Use & Tips

  • As a pocket calendar in your jacket pocket: At 124 × 84 mm, the mini fits into any outside pocket – large enough for legible entries, small enough to truly carry it everywhere.
  • As a companion booklet in a Traveler's Notebook Passport format: The dimensions closely match the Passport insert; the planner sits comfortably in a Passport cover or holder alongside notepads and inserts.
  • Pen choice: MD Paper handles wet inks without bleed-through – fountain pens with fine or medium nibs, fineliners from 0.3 mm and pigmented gel pens all work well. Quick-drying inks have a slight advantage on this surface, as MD Paper takes slightly longer to dry than heavily calendered paper.
  • As a year in review: The included "My Memories" section invites you to record significant events from the year – the planner remains a readable document even after the new year begins.
  • Pen tip: The pen holder on the PVC cover accommodates pens up to approximately 10–11 mm shaft diameter – slim fountain pens, mechanical pencils and fineliners fit, but thicker rollerball bodies may not.

For Planner Enthusiasts

MD Paper has been continuously developed by Midori since the 1960s and is today one of the few papers used in pocket-format planners that still performs reliably with fountain pen ink. Sewn binding – rather than the standard glued binding at this price point – means that even after frequent opening the booklet won't curl and pages won't come loose. Collectors who gather several Pocket Diaries over the years will notice: the binding holds, and the paper yellows slowly to a warm cream tone, giving archived entries their own patina.
