Hobonichi Cover Colors: Caramel Pudding (A6)

The Hobonichi Cover Colors: Caramel Pudding is a polyester cover in the signature butterfly-stopper style of the Colors series – muted pudding yellow on the outside, warm caramel brown within. The matte polyester fabric feels robust and subtly lustrous in the hand whilst remaining thin and lightweight enough for a trouser pocket or small bag. The calendar itself is not included; this cover fits the Hobonichi Techo Original in A6.

• Butterfly-stopper pen loops: Two loops fashioned from the cover material – one front, one back – function simultaneously as pen holders and a closure mechanism: thread a pen through both loops and it keeps the cover securely closed, with no buttons or magnets required. The loops accommodate pens up to 13.5 mm in diameter.
• Two bookmarks with different tags: One bookmark features a triangular tag, the other a square tag – both crafted from the same polyester material. This lets you mark two locations at once, such as your current daily entry and the monthly overview.
• Interior pockets and card slots: Multiple compartments and pockets inside accommodate business cards, postcards, notes and memos – without bulking out the cover.

Use & Tips

• Breaking in the pen loops: The loops are initially snug. Rolling them gently between your fingers a few times will gradually widen them – then the pen slides in and out more easily.
• Inserting the calendar: Open the calendar fully until the front and back covers lie flat against each other, then slide both covers simultaneously into the cover pockets – this prevents any bending of the spine.
• Pen thickness matters: Ballpoints, fineliners and slender fountain pens up to 13.5 mm shaft diameter fit without issue. Thicker shaft designs or triangular pens may be more difficult to thread through.
• Storage: Polyester can release or absorb colour in heat and humidity. Avoid storing it on other coloured materials or in direct sunlight.
• Making use of the coloured interior: The caramel brown interior creates a beautiful contrast with the light paper of the Hobonichi Techo and makes the transition between cover and calendar feel intentional.

The Colors series has been the most customised cover line in the Hobonichi range for years: the polyester construction opens completely flat to 180 degrees, which is why gentle ripples may appear along the seams when opened – this is a design feature and not a manufacturing fault.
