MT Masking Tape yellow (7m)

MT Masking Tape in Yellow is a 15 mm wide adhesive tape made from Japanese washi paper – silk-matte to the touch, slightly transparent and in a rich, warm yellow. The surface has a gentle texture and accepts both pencil and many inks directly. With 7 metres on the roll, there's plenty of material for extensive projects.

• Japanese washi paper: The material is naturally light and supple – it tears cleanly lengthways or across without fraying, even without scissors. This creates spontaneous, organic-looking edges.
• Silk-matte, slightly transparent surface: The yellow stands out clearly on light backgrounds, yet allows texture to show through on dark surfaces – giving layers and collages natural depth.
• Writable: The textured paper surface holds pencil notes, fine-liner pens and many pigment inks without any pre-treatment. Ideal for labelling directly on the tape.
• Residue-free repositionability: On smooth surfaces – paper, glass, painted surfaces – the tape can be peeled off and repositioned without leaving adhesive residue behind.
• Flexible application: The tape conforms to curves and uneven surfaces without tearing or creasing.

• Journalling and planners: As colour coding for calendar weeks, dividing lines or as a background for handwritten notes – the yellow creates clear accents without overwhelming.
• Bookbinding and box-making: Narrow strips as hinge reinforcement or decorative hinges; the washi paper tolerates light crease pressure.
• Collage and mixed media: Layered strips create colour gradations through the slight transparency; torn edges feel textile-like and handmade.
• Temporary labelling: Labelling jars, boxes or archive folders – can be written on, removed and replaced without damaging surfaces.
• Stamping: The matte surface accepts pigment-based stamp inks well; solvent inks also adhere, though they need a bit of drying time.

Kamoi Kakoshi – the manufacturer of the MT range – has been producing washi-based adhesive tapes since the 1920s, originally for industrial use in paint masking. The combination of long-fibre kozo paper and a pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive, which is typical for washi tapes, makes the tape repositionable without losing adhesion when pressed down once cleanly. The 15 mm width is the most common MT range format and fits all standard tape dispensers and cutting guides.
