The Midori MD coloured pencils are conceived as a six-piece set with two pencils each in cream, light blue and orange – a restrained, harmoniously coordinated palette that complements the creamy tonality of MD paper. The pencils bear the inscription "MD PAPER PRODUCTS" engraved into the wooden shaft and share the formal language of the entire MD line: matte, natural wood body, no high gloss, no distraction.

Use & Tips

• Colour marking in the MD notebook: The B core glides across smooth MD paper without resistance. Cream is ideal for gently highlighting entire text blocks, light blue for marginal notes and categories, orange for priorities and deadlines.
• Sketches and layouts: For quick thumbnails or page grids, the soft stroke allows you to build flat colour tones without hard edges – the core can be easily blended with your finger or a blending stump.
• Combined with a fountain pen: Fountain pen ink on MD paper is water-resistant enough that coloured pencils can be applied over it afterwards without smudging the ink. Conversely – pencil first, then pen – also works: the B core does not form a waxy barrier that repels ink.
• Nib care: Due to the 3 mm core (slim for a coloured pencil), a fine metal sharpener or knife is recommended for a long, controlled point that enables precise writing and drawing.
• Storage: The set can be transported together with the MD Pencil Case or a slim pencil case – the six pencils form a compact bundle together.

The colour selection – cream, light blue, orange – follows a logic aligned with the paper colour of MD paper: creamy white rather than pure white. Cream on a cream ground creates a subtle relief effect that becomes visible in candlelight or under warm artificial light.
