The Midori Diary Weekly Block stencil is a 0.4 mm thin brass plate that lets you trace weekly layouts, to-do grids and daily blocks directly into your notebook or planner. Brass gives it a warm, weighty feel in the hand – and develops a unique patina over time. The reverse side features a non-slip coating that keeps the stencil precisely in place whilst drawing.

Features

  • Cut-outs for a complete weekly overview – daily blocks, line grids and symbols can be traced individually or combined, depending on your desired layout
  • Weekday initials and month abbreviations stamped in English – for clean, even lettering without freehand drawing
  • Additional geometric shapes (squares, circles, triangles, diamonds in various sizes) as bullet-point variations for habit trackers, to-do lists and index pages
  • Engraved millimetre scale along the edge – serves double duty as a ruler for spacing and page division
  • Non-slip coating on the reverse holds the stencil stable whilst tracing, with no need for a second hand to secure it
  • 0.4 mm material thickness: flat enough to lie permanently in your notebook or planner cover, yet rigid enough for precise line work
  • Brass patina: the surface changes over time – warm gold tones develop into a vibrant, lightly bronzed vintage character

Use & Tips

  • Recommended nib size: 0.5 mm or finer – fine-tip or pigment pens with 0.3–0.5 mm nibs give the tightest cut-outs a clean finish; broader nibs will blur the outlines in the stamped sections
  • For fountain pens: works well with a fine or extra-fine nib; the stencil lies flat enough that ink won't bleed under the edge, as long as the nib isn't too wet
  • Coloured pens or white ink on dark paper work just as well – simply trace only the cut-outs you need, cover the rest or leave them blank
  • As an improvised ruler: the engraved scale extends to 90 mm, making it practical for quick page grids or column spacing
  • Storage: fits most A5 and A6 notebook covers as well as Traveler's Notebook inserts; the original PP pouch also serves as permanent protection
  • Care: avoid treating brass with harsh cleaners – a dry or slightly damp cloth is enough; if you want to preserve the patina, simply use the stencil and let it age naturally

For Planner Enthusiasts

Brass stencils of this type work on the same principle as die-cutting tools used in the printing trade: the material is hard enough to serve as a guide for fine writing instruments, yet thin enough to create no visible ridge between the stencil edge and paper surface. At 0.4 mm thickness, the die wall sits almost perpendicular to the paper plane, minimising shadow lines caused by pens held at an angle. Using 0.3 mm pigment pens with this stencil gives line widths that are barely distinguishable from printed templates – particularly on calendered, smooth papers with low ink spread.
