Hobonichi Cover Colours: Blue Parasol (A6)

The Hobonichi Cover Colors in "Blue Parasol" is an A6 cover from Hobonichi's regular Colors series – a line that releases each year in new colour names whilst maintaining the same proven construction. The outer material is a dense, slightly glossy polyester fabric; the interior features the same material in a colour that either complements or contrasts with the outer tone. The cover opens completely flat to 180 degrees – perfect for a Hobonichi Techo Original or Planner in A6 format.

Features

• "Butterfly-Stopper" pen holders: Two pen loops positioned so that a secured pen keeps the cover closed like a clasp – no additional fastening needed. The loops start snug and relax over time; pens up to approximately 12–13 mm in diameter fit easily.
• Two bookmarks with charms: Rectangle charm and triangle charm, allowing you to mark two sections simultaneously – such as the monthly overview and daily page.
• Polyester outer material: The fabric is hard-wearing, easy to wipe clean, yet thin enough for the cover to slip into a trouser pocket or narrow inner pocket. No swelling from moisture, no warping from heat.
• 180° opening: The cover lies completely flat on the table – useful when writing right to the edge of the page or when attaching inserts.
• Compatibility: Fits the Hobonichi Techo Original (A6) and Hobonichi Techo Planner (A6), for book blocks with a spine up to approximately 13 mm. The book block interior is purchased separately.
• Cover on Cover: The cover is prepared for the transparent protective film "Cover on Cover" (sold separately), which sits over the outer material and provides space for postcards, photographs, or stickers.

Use & Tips

• The pen holder is stiff when new – rolling it out a few times or inserting an older pen for several days speeds up the break-in process. Pens with rubberised grip zones may slide in and out more stiffly than those with smooth metal or plastic bodies.
• The cover opens precisely flat at 180 degrees; if you like writing right to the inner edge (for example, with a stub nib for thick base strokes), you'll benefit from this because no cover pressure lifts the left side.
• Cards, sticky notes, or folded pages can be tucked into the interior pockets – handy for reference material you want at hand while planning your day.
• The polyester fabric resists ballpoint and ink stains well and can be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth.
• If you'd like to vary the colour with the seasons: a Cover on Cover in a different colour or with a patterned design can be placed over the blue-toned outer material, completely changing the look – without swapping the cover itself.

For Techo Enthusiasts

The Colors series is hand-stitched – each cover is individually assembled and sewn by hand in the factory. This means minimal variations in stitching, the tension of the interior lining, and colour tone may occur. This is not a flaw but a characteristic of hand-crafted production. The polyester fabric is first dyed or printed, then cut and sewn; small colour differences between batches and imagery are possible and fall within Hobonichi quality standards. The pen holder is designed for the official Hobonichi Jetstream pen (12.2 mm diameter) but also accommodates slim fountain pens or standard gel rollers.
