Hobonichi Cover Colours: Bordeaux Teracotta (A6)

The Hobonichi Cover Colors series is the bestselling entry-level and everyday option in the Hobonichi universe: slim fit, lightweight polyester fabric with a subtle shimmer, and the characteristic butterfly stopper as pen closure. The Bordeaux Terracotta colour combination pairs a deep, rich wine red with a warm, earthy terracotta – two tones that deepen each other in daily use. The cover fits the A6 Hobonichi Techo Original and A6 Hobonichi Techo Planner without an adapter.

Features

• Butterfly stopper pen closure: Two sprung pen holders secure the cover by hooking the pen clip – this keeps the notebook reliably closed without a rubber band or magnetic clasp. Works equally well with slim pens, fineliners or ballpoint pens.
• Polyester exterior with polyester lining: The fabric feels smooth and cool in the hand, gives slightly under pressure and moulds to the book block without creasing. The matt surface with subtle iridescent shimmer resists fingerprints and maintains its shape even after extended use.
• Bordeaux Terracotta colour combination: Deep wine red on the outside from Bordeaux, earthy orange-brown on the inside from Terracotta – a colour pairing that looks vibrant in both natural light and desk lamp light, without being overpowering.
• Slim construction: The cover is designed for minimal thickness, keeping the A6 Techo in a trouser pocket or small bag without becoming too bulky. No padded edges, no zips.
• Cover on Cover compatibility: The Colors series is designed for the optional Hobonichi Cover on Cover – a clear overlay element that displays photos, postcards or printed inserts behind a clear film without blocking the butterfly stopper.

Use & Tips

• Pen selection for the butterfly stopper: The clip holder is designed for pens with broad, sturdy clips – standard-size ballpoint pens, metal-clip fineliners or slim rollerballs sit securely. Very thin or round clips without a spring may slip.
• Personalisation via Cover on Cover: Those wanting to change the look regularly can simply insert a new design into the transparent overlay – seasonal illustrations, year-at-a-glance calendars or hand-drawn maps all work without adhesive or fasteners.
• Care: The polyester fabric can be wiped clean with a lightly damp cloth. Stubborn marks on the exterior respond well to a dry microfibre cloth. Do not machine wash the cover.
• Pen combination for colour effect: On the Tomoe River paper of the Hobonichi book block, earthy ink tones – brown, rust, burnt orange – harmonise particularly well with the Bordeaux Terracotta palette of the exterior. This creates a visual unity between the cover and the book block contents.

For Planner Enthusiasts

The Colors series has improved in small details over several years: the butterfly stoppers are wider and more stable than in early versions, the lining protects the book block exterior from wear. Those using multiple Hobonichi formats should note that this cover is specifically designed for A6 (Original and Planner) – it is not compatible with the A5 Cousin or Weeks format. The Hobonichi Cover on Cover for A6 Original covers fits perfectly on the Colors series and can be purchased separately.
