Hobonichi Cover mina perhonen: glass flower - Pink Mix (A6)
The Hobonichi Cover minä perhonen: glass flower in Pink Mix is a Techo cover for the A6 original format, where textile art and everyday use come together. The design features the eponymous "glass flower" motif by minä perhonen – a floral drawing with the characteristic lightness of hand-drawn designs – in a warm rosé and pink blend. The cover is produced by Hobonichi under the design direction of minä perhonen.
Features
- glass flower motif in Pink Mix: The textile floral pattern is based on hand-drawn designs that minä perhonen transfers into fabric – either printed, woven or embroidered. The pink blend comprises coordinated rose tones that together create a harmonious, warm color palette.
- Fit for A6 Hobonichi Original: The cover is tailored to the A6 original Techo and sits snugly without warping the book. The calendar opens smoothly thanks to the flexible cover structure.
- Bookmark ribbons from minä perhonen original lace: Two bookmark ribbons from minä perhonen's own lace ribbon collection are integrated. The textile material may fray slightly – loose threads should be pressed back into the weave, not pulled.
- Pen holder: An elastic pen holder on the cover accommodates pens with a diameter of approximately 12 mm. Pens with rubber grip or irregular shape may offer more resistance when inserting and removing; hand-rubbing the holder speeds up the break-in period.
- Each piece is unique: Due to different weave cuts and color placements within the pattern, individual covers vary in nuance and texture distribution.
Application & Tips
- Daily use: The cover is designed for everyday use – as protection for the A6 Hobonichi Original when carrying it in a bag or backpack. The PU inner lining reliably protects the book covers even with extended use.
- Choosing a pen: Pens with a smooth, round shaft around 12 mm diameter – such as a slender fountain pen, mechanical pencil, or slim rollerball model – fit in the holder without jamming. Pens with a clip are often easier to insert when the clip points outward.
- Care of textile exterior: Heat and prolonged moisture can affect the color and texture of the fabric. The cover should not be stored under heavy weight, as embroidered areas may permanently deform.
- Cover on Cover: Due to the material's thicker wall thickness, combining with another cover (Cover on Cover) is only possible to a limited extent or not at all.
- Breaking in the pen holder: If you find the pen holder stiff at first, you can roll it several times between your palms – this makes the leather or fabric layer more supple without stretching it.
For Hobonichi and Textile Enthusiasts
minä perhonen was founded in 1995 by designer Akira Minagawa. The brand name combines the Finnish "minä" (I) with "perhonen" (butterfly) – expressing the desire to create as many different designs as there are butterfly species. All textiles from the label start as hand drawings: Minagawa and his team develop patterns that are subsequently transferred into fabric through embroidery, weaving, or printing. The "glass flower" motif stands in this tradition – a floral form whose drawing carries a certain transparency and lightness, as if viewed through glass. The collaboration between Hobonichi and minä perhonen has been ongoing for years; the covers are produced by Hobonichi but designed under the creative direction of minä perhonen.
