Hobonichi Cover Colours: Mango Latte (A5)

The Hobonichi Cover Colors series for the A5 Cousin combines clear formal language with deliberately chosen color contrast – the outside and inside of the cover each feature their own tone, which becomes visible when opened. "Mango Latte" plays with the interplay of warm, vibrant yellow-gold on the outside and a light, creamy latte tone on the inside. The fabric is created by dyeing white material, giving the surface a slightly textile, matte feel. The cover is designed as a sleeve for the Hobonichi Techo Cousin book in A5 format.

Highlights

• Two-color design, outside and inside: The outside color and interior tone are deliberately chosen to be different – a contrast that becomes visible each time you open your Techo and gives the cover its own character.
• Textile, dyed fabric: Color and pattern are created by dyeing white base material. This results in a matte, slightly grainy surface that feels pleasant to hold and visually distinguishes itself from glossy or lacquered materials.
• 180° flat opening: The construction allows complete flat opening – both sides lie evenly on the table without tension in the spine. Important when writing across the full page width.
• Integrated pen holder: A pen holder on the cover accommodates round pens up to 13.5 mm in diameter. Well-suited for slim fineliners, liquid ink rollers or compact fountain pens – pens with wide or angular clips may be harder to secure.
• Butterfly stoppers: The cover is designed for use with Hobonichi-typical butterfly stoppers and is compatible with Cover on Cover accessories from the Colors and printed cover series.
• Interior pocket: A pocket in the rear area provides space for folded notes, cards or clipped inspiration.

Use & Tips

• Color coordination in daily life: The Colors series is inspired by clothing colors. Mango Latte pairs with warm earth tones, burnt orange, sand beige and terracotta – those who coordinate their Techo cover with a carry bag, note sleeves or writing instruments will find a versatile starting point in this color combination.
• Cover on Cover accessories: Those who want to protect the surface or change the look can apply a Cover on Cover (transparent or striped) – both variants are made for the Colors series in A5 Cousin size.
• Pen recommendation: Slim fountain pens in pocket or travel format, fineliners with round grip section or compact liquid ink rollers fit well in the integrated holder. Pens with angular or particularly wide clips may jam.
• Care of the textile surface: The dyed fabric is sensitive to moisture and heavy rubbing. Light soiling can be removed by dabbing gently when dry or slightly damp – do not rub, as the color is applied to a white base and may fade with abrasion.
• Supplement with Pencil Board: The Hobonichi Pencil Board in A5 Cousin size lies flat behind the current page, prevents ballpoint and fountain pen impressions and simultaneously marks the current page.

For Techo Enthusiasts

The color scheme of the Colors series follows an editorial concept: outside and inside colors are developed as a color pair, not as simple variants of a single tone. With "Mango Latte," this creates a tension between the warm, saturated yellow-gold of the outside and the light cream tone inside – an interplay that recalls the layering of tropical fruits and makes each opening in daily use a small visual moment. The textile surface is created by direct dyeing on white fabric; minimal color variations between individual items or between the main surface and pocket are manufacturing-related and are considered a characteristic feature of the series, not a defect.
