Hobonichi Cover MOTHER: Dungeon Man (A5)
The Dungeon Man is one of the most distinctive characters from Shigesato Itoi's video game series MOTHER – a giant robot with a human spirit hidden deep in the jungle. This Hobonichi Techo cover for the A5 Cousin bears this motif and is aimed at anyone who not only played EarthBound but felt it. The cover protects the A5 Techo block and makes it a daily companion with character.
Special Features
- MOTHER × Hobonichi Collaboration: The design comes from the official collaboration between Hobonichi and Shigesato Itoi's MOTHER universe – one of the most popular and long-lasting Techo collaborations ever.
- Fit for the A5 Cousin: The cover is precisely tailored to the A5 format of the Hobonichi Techo Cousin. It encloses the block snugly and without any play – neither too tight nor too loose.
- Butterfly Pen Holder: The butterfly stopper loops hold slim writing instruments up to approx. 11–12 mm in diameter securely. Thinner pens like fineliners or narrow fountain pens sit loosely.
- Hint Man Notebook (Bonus): The cover includes a small grid notebook featuring Hint Man from MOTHER 2.
- Cover Only: The package includes the cover (and bonus zip pouch) – no Techo block is included.
Use & Tips
- Compatibility: Fits the Hobonichi Techo Cousin (A5) – both the January and April editions. Not compatible with the A6 Original, Weeks, or HON.
- For MOTHER Collectors: Covers from the MOTHER collaboration are released annually in limited quantities. Those collecting all designs should preserve them unused in original packaging.
- Cover on Cover: Those who want to protect the design especially well can additionally use a transparent cover-on-cover for A5.
For MOTHER Enthusiasts
The Dungeon Man appears in EarthBound (MOTHER 2) in the Scarabia Desert – a former adventurer named Brick Road who transformed his body into a giant dungeon. The motif is thus one of the absurdly endearing character portraits that the MOTHER series is known for: taken seriously, never explained, instantly unforgettable. Hobonichi and the MOTHER team have been collaborating for years; each season new designs emerge distilled directly from the game universe – not generic game logos, but scenic moments and characters with attitude.
