Hobonichi Cover Alettone: Sweets (A5)

The Hobonichi Cover Alettone is a three-layer PVC case for the Hobonichi Techo in A5 format – lightweight, lying flat, and featuring a clear viewing window on the outside as a central design element. The name "Alettone" is derived from the aircraft aileron (Italian alettone): the characteristic flap closes over the book with the same precision and cleanness as an aileron during flight. The Sweets edition brings its own colour mood to this simple basic concept.

Special Features

• Clear exterior window: The transparent clear-view pocket on the front holds postcards, stickers, sticky notes, or small rulers – visible from outside, accessible without opening.
• Snap button closure: A single snap button keeps the three-layer case securely closed; opens and closes with a precise, clean click.
• Inner flap as bookmark: The flap on the left interior can be tucked into the Techo and functions as a fixed page marker – no loose bookmark that slips.
• Clear-view interior pocket (left): Cards, business cards, or folded notes disappear here flat and organised.
• Ticket pocket (right interior): Open and deep enough for postcards, train tickets, or receipts that need to be accessed quickly.
• Pen holder hook: The pen hangs on the clip inside – no rolling, no slipping, ready to hand when you next open it.
• Large back pocket: On the exterior back sits a generous open pocket for notepads, folded pages, or anything frequently pulled out.
• Gold foil embossing: Embossed on the flap: "Writing by hand is like sending your mind on a journey." – a quiet sentence that becomes visible when you open it.
• Soft PVC, approx. 102 g: The material lies softly in your hand, quickly warms to body temperature, and keeps the case overall light – ideal for daily carrying in bag or backpack.

Application & Tips

• The clear exterior window invites regular changes: a seasonal postcard, current month card, a favourite sticker, or a handwritten reminder – the case changes its character depending on what you put inside.
• Writing instruments with clips – fineliners, rollerballs, fountain pens with slim clips – sit securely in the pen holder hook. Thicker pens without clips won't fit there; for these, an external pen case is recommended.
• The flap-as-bookmark function is particularly practical with the Cousin daily planner: opening to the current day in the morning without flipping through pages.
• The back pocket is suitable for a small sticky note pad that serves as a floating note pad – ideas land there before they make their way into the Techo.
• PVC is sensitive to prolonged contact with printed materials or other vinyl products: colour transfer or deformation is possible. Prefer postcards with a matte, non-rubberised surface in the exterior window.
• The case fits A5 books with a spine up to approx. 13 mm; thicker annual editions towards year-end sit tighter but still close with the snap button.

For Hobonichi Enthusiasts

The Alettone series is available in parallel in several sizes (A6, A5, Weeks), with each size of the standard version appearing in a different colour mood – if you carry multiple formats, you can distinguish the cases at a glance. As a complement to the case, an Alettone document bag exists in the same design vocabulary that holds HON blocks, papers, and writing instruments, logically extending the system. The weight of approx. 102 g and the flat material thickness of 2 mm keep the overall weight of the filled Techo well below that of many leather or textile equivalents.
