Hobonichi Weeks Planner 2027 Hiroko Kubota: Meteor Shower in the Light Blue Forest (engl.)
The Hobonichi Taschenplaner Weeks 2027 with the motif "Meteor Shower in the Light Blue Forest" showcases a fantastic landscape with exclusive illustrations by Hiroko Kubota. It depicts a calm, light blue forest and a lake that reflects a star-studded, universe-like sky. Two white cats in a small boat gaze through a telescope as if waiting for something. The path of a large fish is beautifully rendered in shimmering aurora foil, creating a changing glitter that reminds one of flickering light underwater. The cover is made as a lightweight hardcover that still has some flexibility and can bend. The narrow-long format of the Weeks fits into a jacket pocket or wallet compartment and runs on cream-colored Tomoe River paper – thin, light and ink-resistant. The English-language layout divides the week with Monday through Sunday on the left and a free grid page on the right.
Special Features
- Hiroko Kubota Cover Illustration: Light blue forest with meteor shower – Kubota works with calm, expansive compositions full of small motifs that reveal new details with each glance. The cover is designed as a slightly flexible hardcover that holds its shape without breaking.
- Tomoe River Paper, Cream-Colored: 52 g/m², extremely thin yet resistant to show-through. Fountain pens, fineliners and gel pens glide smoothly on the smooth surface; ink dries slightly slower than on coated paper – when using fountain pens, brief air-drying or blotting paper is recommended.
- Weekly Overview on Double Page: Left side has seven daily lines (Mon–Sun) with narrow time bar, right side has a free grid page (3.55 mm grid) for notes, sketches or trackers – the English-language layout is completely usable without Japanese knowledge.
- Monthly Calendar Pages: Two-page monthly overviews enable forward planning and a quick overview of the entire month.
- Thread Binding Laying Flat: The special stitch binding allows the planner to open completely flat – no need to hold it down, both hands remain free.
- Memo Pages in Appendix: Over 70 ruled pages at the end of the book serve as an independent notebook within the planner – for lists, sketches, addresses or free journal pages.
- Two Bookmarks and Clear Pocket: The two ribbons mark the weekly view and monthly page simultaneously; the included self-adhesive clear pocket holds notes, tickets or sticker sheets.
- Rounded Corners: Minimize creases and wear with daily use in bag or backpack.
Application & Tips
- Fountain Pens and Tomoe River: The cream-colored, smooth Tomoe River paper reacts to water-based ink with a slight sheen and vibrant color depth. Turquoise tones, blue-gray tones and transparent ink layering look particularly beautiful on the cream-white background – fitting to the light blue forest motif of the cover.
- Pay Attention to Drying Time: Those who write with a fountain pen should place a piece of blotting paper between two pages or wait briefly – this keeps the grid page opposite free from impressions.
- Fineliners and Pigment Ink: Fine pigment fineliners (0.3–0.5 mm) suit the 3.55 mm grid of the note page well and remain sharp and clean when flipping through.
- Weekly Spread as Habit Tracker: The free grid page on the right is excellent for habit trackers, budget lists or meal planning – the 3.55 mm fields allow small, precise symbols without loss of space.
- Sticker Compatible: The Tomoe River paper accepts light washi tapes and thin stickers well without buckling – ideal for decorative journaling around the forest motif of the cover.
- Cover Protection: Those who want to combine the planner with an external Weeks cover can cover the Kubota motif – as a loose book it remains visible at any time.
For Planner Enthusiasts
The 3.55 mm grid of the Weeks is finer than the 3.7 mm grid of the A6 original – those who use familiar sticker sets for the A6 Techo should take this into account when cutting. The cream-colored Tomoe River paper of the Weeks differs in color from the white Tomoe River of some other Hobonichi models: The cream tone absorbs water-based inks warmly and slightly dampens cold blue tones, but enhances brown and gold tones – a beautiful contrast to the cool blue colors of the Kubota motif. The English-language edition does not contain Japanese bonus pages (weekly quotes in Japanese are omitted), instead information pages and contact list are fully in English.
