The Hobonichi Pocket Planner 2027 Weeks in the MOTHER: Mr. Saturn Pattern Edition combines the compact long format of the Weeks with the iconic Mr. Saturn pattern from Shigesato Itoi's MOTHER game series. The interior features cream-colored Tomoe River paper – tissue-thin but ink-proof – and the entire planner is in English, January through December 2027.

  This Weeks planner features Mr. Saturn from the MOTHER series (EarthBound), rendered in the look of a tie fabric weave. Against a soft apricot background that echoes Mr. Saturn's skin tone, the cover is dotted with his face and characteristic red band. A playful design that makes you feel like you're constantly making eye contact with Mr. Saturn! The cover is constructed as a lightweight hardcover that still has some flexibility and bends easily.

• Cream-colored Tomoe River Paper: The interior paper is approx. 52 g/m² thin, easy on the eyes with a yellowish-white tone, and shows minimal show-through even with broad pen strokes or highly flowing inks. Ideal for fountain pens, fineliners, and gel pens.

Use & Tips

• Fountain pens on Tomoe River: The paper takes ink evenly and allows shading from broad nibs to show particularly well. Ink dries slightly slower than on coated paper – when writing left-handed or with very wet pens, a blotting paper strip as a hand rest is recommended.
• Gel pens and fineliners: Work reliably and show minimal show-through. Document-archival pigment inks adhere well and can be easily covered with washi tape.
• Structure weekly grid: The vertical day blocks on the left page can be divided into time blocks with colored markers – without pre-printed hour lines, the layout remains flexible for hourly or block systems.
• Memo pages as sketchpad: The 3.55 mm grid is suitable for pixel art drawings, small illustrations, or isometric designs – fitting with the playful MOTHER aesthetic of the cover.
• Sticker compatibility: The slightly textured cover surface holds washi tape and planner stickers well; good washi tape leaves no traces when removed.

The MOTHER collaboration has developed its own collector tradition over several years – the Mr. Saturn character originally comes from MOTHER 2 (EarthBound, Super Famicom, 1994) and appears in the game as a friendly, slightly absurd secondary species. The pattern on the cover captures this playful quality without compromising the planner's functionality: the pattern color is chosen so that handwriting on the printed areas remains easily legible.
