Hobonichi Pocket Planner 2027 Weeks Bow & Tie: Sheep Sheep Sheep (engl.)
The Hobonichi Techo Weeks 2027 in the Bow & Tie edition "Sheep Sheep Sheep" features a cover made from glossy polyester fabric – the same material used in tie production. The result is a surface with a silky feel and a subtle, almost textile sheen that feels distinctly different from coated paper or leather covers. The design showcases a playful, repeating sheep pattern that gives this slim weekly planner a quiet cheerfulness. Inside, the Weeks uses gossamer-thin Tomoe River paper and weighs barely more than a wallet in your hand.
Features
- Tie fabric cover: The stiff hardcover is bound with glossy polyester fabric from tie production – silky smooth, slightly flexible at the edges, with a surface sheen that sheds ink droplets and light rain.
- Tomoe River paper: The cream-coloured Tomoe River paper is extremely thin (under 52 g/m²) and therefore barely prone to show-through. Fountain pens, gel pens and fine liners glide smoothly across the subtly smooth surface; ink stays on the surface and dries cleanly.
- Lay-flat thread binding: The planner opens completely flat – even in the middle of a weekly spread. This makes it equally comfortable for right- and left-handed writing and makes it easy to attach stickers or washi tape without creasing the spine.
- Weekly overview plus note page: Each week spans a double-page spread: on the left, the seven days with horizontal lines (Monday–Sunday); on the right, a blank grid page for notes, sketches or bullet journalling. The 3.55 mm grid with dashed lines is subtle enough not to dominate.
- 73 memo pages in the appendix: The back of the planner features additional numbered grid pages – plenty of space for indexes, habit trackers, sketches or running lists.
- Hobonichi quote on every weekly page: At the bottom of each weekly spread is an English-language quote from the Japanese web magazine Hobonichi – small prompts for conversation and reflection that accumulate throughout the year.
- Two bookmarks: Two ribbon bookmarks allow quick access to the current week and a second frequently used page – such as a monthly overview or a personal notes section.
- Clear adhesive pocket: Each Weeks comes with a transparent self-adhesive pocket that can be stuck inside the cover and holds loose notes, tickets or sticker sheets.
Use & Tips
- Fountain pens and fine liners: Tomoe River paper absorbs water-based ink beautifully and shows colour depth and shading particularly well. Inks with long drying times – such as highly shimmering or very wet inks – need a moment to dry; a quick breath or blotting paper helps.
- Gel pens and ballpoints: Quick-drying gel pens with fine or medium tips work very well. Oil-based ballpoint refills write smoothly and leave barely any impression on the back.
- Washi tape and stickers: The smooth surface adheres well with standard washi tape; since the paper is thin, light tape without strong adhesive is recommended to avoid pulling fibres when removing.
- Bullet journal use: The right note page of each weekly spread is ideal for daily migration, habit boxes or brief task lists. The 73 appendix pages work well for indexes, collections and monthly overviews.
- Combined with a weekly map: If you use the Weeks as a pure appointment planner, you can use the right grid page for time blocks – divided vertically by day and horizontally by hour.
- Transport: The format fits in a jacket breast pocket, handbag or laptop bag. The stiff tie fabric cover reliably protects the pages without requiring an additional sleeve.
For Planner Enthusiasts
The Weeks' 3.55 mm grid is the finest in the entire Hobonichi range – finer than the 3.7 mm grid of the A6 and A5 formats. This allows for denser layouts and precision-fit sticker designs calibrated to this grid size. The Tomoe River paper in the Weeks is cream-white, which makes ink nuances – particularly shading and sheening – appear differently than on pure white paper: warmer, slightly more muted, but with high contrast for dark inks. The Bow & Tie cover is classified as hardcover and behaves like a stiff cardboard binding when opened – it doesn't give way, but remains grippier thanks to the fabric layer than smooth bookbinding board.
