The Hobonichi Moomin Notebook (A5) is the Hobonichi Graph Notebook in the Moomin edition – featuring Tomoe River paper, thread binding, and a cover with illustrations from Tove Jansson's novel "Moomintroll's Adventures". The Tomoe River paper in this notebook comes from the same production as the paper in Hobonichi Techo planners – 47 g/m², lightly cream white. The surface is calendered-smooth, which makes ink sheening (the shimmering gloss effect of certain fountain pen inks) particularly visible, as the ink remains on the surface longer before fully absorbing. For archival requirements, Tomoe River paper is not suitable – water-based fountain pen inks are generally not archival and can smudge when in contact with water. Thread binding (stitch binding) allows completely flat opening without adhesive breaking, even after hundreds of use cycles.
