Hobonichi Planner Weekly Calendar 2027
The Hobonichi Weekly Calendar 2027 is a slim week-planner booklet, designed as a complement to the Hobonichi Techo Original (A6). Printed on Tomoe River S Paper and sewn with thread binding, it lies flat on the table and fits precisely into the pocket of a Techo cover with its compact dimensions. The double-page spread shows an entire week at a glance – with a 24-hour timeline and checkboxes for each day.
Features
- Tomoe River S Paper: This thin, smooth paper (approx. 52 g/m²) from Sanzen takes ink cleanly and shows minimal show-through – fountain pens, gel pens and fineliners all perform reliably on it.
- Week overview on double spread: Each week spans a complete double-page spread with one day column per day – clear and quickly understood at a glance.
- 24-hour timeline: Each day column contains a vertical time axis across the entire day, so appointments, sleep and work times, or daily rhythms can be entered precisely.
- Three checkboxes per day: At the top of each day column are three checkboxes – ideal for daily priorities, recurring tasks or short to-do lists.
- 3.45 mm dot grid: The finely tuned grid keeps handwriting in line without being dominant – practical for fountain pens with fine nibs as well as for fineliners.
- Thread-sewn binding: Thanks to thread binding, the booklet lies flat – no need to press the spine, no shifting when writing.
- Fits in cover pocket: The dimensions are slightly smaller than a standard A6 Techo book, so the booklet slides precisely into the inner pocket of a Techo cover and sits securely there.
- Monday start: The week begins on Monday – compatible with the European week layout.
Use & Tips
- As a weekly supplement to daily Techo: For those who write daily in the Hobonichi Original but also need a quick weekly overview, enter appointments and deadlines in the Weekly Calendar in parallel – without opening the daily journal.
- Use the timeline for daily planning: The 24-hour axis is perfect for time blocking: sleep time, work blocks, breaks or exercise sessions can be drawn as bars to visualise your entire daily rhythm.
- Checkboxes as daily priorities: Three fields – intentionally few – force you to focus on what's essential each day. Well suited for GTD users or anyone who wants to set three concrete goals each morning.
- Fountain pen with fine nib: On the smooth Tomoe River S Paper, a fine Japanese nib glides particularly pleasantly; the ink dries slightly more slowly depending on the fountain pen ink – allow a short drying time or use slightly acidic inks.
- Ink swatches on grid pages: The uniform grid squares are also perfect for testing fountain pen inks – colour, shading and sheen show particularly clearly on Tomoe River S Paper.
- Writing pad recommended: Because the paper is very thin, heavy pressure leaves marks on the next page. Place a writing pad (shitajiki) under the active page.
For Techo Enthusiasts
The Tomoe River S Paper – used in all Hobonichi planners since 2025 – is produced by Sanzen and is the further development of the legendary original by Tomoegawa. The new variant is lighter with the same thickness, displays a smoother surface due to altered fibre structure, and is more resistant to bleed-through. Fountain pen inks with strong shading or sheen really come into their own on this paper – the low absorption effect allows the ink to remain open longer and the pigments settle more differentiated. Non-archival dye-based fountain pen inks work excellently; pigmented or archival inks are also usable but should allow for slightly longer drying time.
