Hobonichi Cover Colors: Black x Clear Blue (A5)

The Hobonichi Cover Colors "Black x Clear Blue" is an A5 cover made from polyester with a striking colour combination: a deep, matte black on the outside and a clear, fresh blue on the inside. The robust fabric has a subtle light-reflecting sheen and sits firmly and structurally in your hand. Compatible with the Hobonichi Cousin in A5 format.

Features

• Butterfly pen loops: Two loops made from the cover fabric hold a writing instrument and fold the cover shut – no accidental opening, no separate closure needed. Particularly practical for fountain pens, fine-tip pens or rollerballs in standard thickness.
• Two ribbons with different charms (triangular and square) made from the cover fabric itself – this allows you to mark the daily planner and monthly planner distinctly without one ribbon displacing the other.
• Interior pockets and card slots: Several compartments on the inside hold business cards, notes or small notepads without requiring a separate case.
• Polyester cover: The fabric is easy to care for, resists light moisture and retains its shape even after prolonged use.
• Compatibility with Cover on Cover: The plain black exterior is an ideal surface for patterned overlays – the clear blue inside remains untouched and adds its own accent when you open it.

Use & Tips

• The cover fits all A5 Hobonichi Techo books (Cousin format). When inserting, slide the book into the corner pockets at both covers until it sits snugly.
• For the butterfly system, pens with a shaft diameter of around 10–13 mm work well – slim fountain pens or fine-tip pens fit just as easily as a compact ballpoint.
• If you want to have two different writing instruments within reach – for example a fountain pen for flowing text and a fine-tip pen for drawings – you can use both loops by having one pen serve as a closure element horizontally and inserting the second one separately.
• The clear blue interior makes leaked ink immediately visible – a practical indicator if pens are transported without their caps.
• For a patterned exterior, a Cover on Cover can be placed directly over this cover; the black disappears behind it whilst the blue inside remains as a personal touch.
