The Klasyk Calendar 2027 by Papierniczeni comes in the colour "tomat" – a warm, deeply saturated tomato red that runs through the material itself: through-dyed cardboard with no coating. The cloth spine and copper-toned accents give the cover a bookbinding character reminiscent of a small workshop – and that's exactly where, in their Kraków studio, Papierniczeni has been crafting the Klasyk for nine years. The vertical weekly overview layout and 100 g/m² natural white paper make it the perfect daily tool for fountain pen users and structured planners alike.
Features
- Through-dyed cardboard cover in "tomat": The colour is not printed or laminated, but runs through the material itself. Scuffing and everyday wear barely change the colour appearance – the surface remains consistently coloured throughout the year.
- Cloth spine with thread binding: The linen is threaded as a hinge across the cardboard spine and keeps the thread binding flexible. The calendar lies completely flat on your desk – both hands remain free for writing, even at the centre spread.
- Warm white 100 g/m² paper, fountain pen friendly: The smooth, slightly absorbent surface takes fountain pen ink cleanly without feathering. Show-through remains minimal with moderate ink saturation. The paper carries FSC certification.
- Vertical weekly overview layout: Monday through Sunday run from top to bottom – daily tasks can be organised as vertical lists. The layout is especially suited to task-based planning and structured daily routines.
- Annual, monthly and weekly overviews plus dotted note pages: Three planning levels cover forward planning and weekly detail; dotted pages offer free space for notes, sketches or reflection.
- Copper-toned ribbon bookmark: A single ribbon bookmark in copper, colour-matched to the metallic accents on the cover and functional for daily page changes.
- Handcrafted in Kraków: Small workshop with direct quality control – not industrial mass production, but bookbinding handwork.
Use & Tips
- Fountain pens with fine to medium nibs: Nibs from EF to M deliver a clean, sharply defined script on 100 g/m² paper. Stub nibs work equally well; water-based inks with longer drying times need a moment's patience before turning the page.
- Gel and liquid ink rollerballs: On the smooth surface, fast-drying gel rollerballs glide fluidly and show sharp stroke edges with dark inks, with no smudging.
- Weekly planning with time blocks: The vertical column layout invites you to structure each day from top to bottom in time blocks – morning tasks at the top, evening appointments at the bottom. The dotted note pages accommodate weekly summaries or monthly reviews.
- Dot grid for small custom layouts: The subtle 5 mm dots work well for habit trackers, grid drawings or hand-drawn page structures – even with a fine-tip pen from 0.3 mm without visible show-through.
- "Tomat" throughout the year: The warm tomato red makes the calendar instantly visible on your desk. The colour combines well with natural matt wood or brass writing instruments without dominating the look.
For Calligraphy and Planner Enthusiasts
The 100 g/m² paper in warm natural white accepts iron gall inks well – the base is sturdy enough to avoid cockled pages with moderate ink saturation. White fountain pen ink adheres hardly visibly on the light tone; for high-contrast effect, darker or metallic inks work better. The thread binding allows the calendar to lie completely flat even at the centre spread – an advantage when working calligraphy across a double-page spread or with a ruler. The cloth spine is executed as a casing binding: the linen takes on the hinge function, relieves stress on the binding when frequently opened and remains dimensionally stable throughout a full year of use.
