Hibi 10 Minutes Aroma "Garden" Peony

Hibi are Japanese scent-strike matches that ignite on the integrated strike surface of the box – just like an ordinary match – and then continue to smoulder as incense sticks. Each stick releases the fragrance of peony for approximately 10 minutes. Hibi emerged from the meeting of two craftwork traditions in Japan's Hyogo Prefecture: incense stick manufacturing from Awaji Island and match production from Harima, and is still handmade to this day.

• Room size: The peony fragrance unfolds most distinctly in smaller, enclosed spaces – a study, bathroom or bedroom are ideal environments for the 10-minute scent effect.
• Timing: Hibi is perfect for short, intentional breaks – before reading, after a work session, whilst having tea. The fixed burn time gives the pause a clear structure.
