Kokuyo Paper Stapler Harinacs dark grey large
The Kokuyo Harinacs (large) binds up to 10 sheets of paper – without any metal staples. A milled blade punches an arrow-shaped tab from the paper and hooks it firmly in an equally punched slot: the result holds reliably without ever needing to refill consumables. The housing consists of 99% recycled ABS plastic, manufactured in Japan.
Features
- Staple-free binding principle: A stainless steel blade punches an arrow-shaped tab from the paper stack and hooks it into a counter-slot – the connection is secure and cannot accidentally come loose.
- Up to 10-sheet capacity: For handouts, daily notes, receipts, or small document sets made from copy paper (approx. 80 g/m²).
- Viewing window for positioning: The transparent window on top shows exactly where the binding point is set – so the tab never lands over text or a table.
- Corner and edge: An integrated corner stopper allows precise stapling at the sheet corner; alternatively, side stapling along the edge is also possible.
- Recycled ABS housing: Upper and lower housing as well as the lever are made from R-ABS (recycled ABS plastic, 99% recycled content) – the viewing window from ABS, the inner body from steel, the blade from stainless steel.
- Shredder and recyclability: Since there are no metal staples in the paper, bound documents can go directly into the shredder or paper bin – without having to remove staples.
- Carrying hole at the grip end: A small opening at the stapling end accepts a ribbon or carabiner, practical for wall mounting or transport.
Application & Tips
- Standard corner stapling: Insert paper up to the stopper, press the lever down evenly and firmly – a quick, smooth motion produces the cleanest tab.
- Multiple stapling along the edge: For documents that should open like a booklet, two stapling points can be set side by side – similar to classic spine binding.
- Note paper weight: The Harinacs works most reliably with standard copy paper (70–90 g/m²). With heavy cardboard or coated paper, the tab may grip less securely.
- Resolve paper jams: The viewing window can be opened to quickly remove paper scraps after misfeeds – without tools.
- Office without consumable costs: For those who daily compile small document sets, it eliminates the ongoing purchase of staple refill packs entirely.
- Paper crafting and bookbinding: The Harinacs is also suitable for binding paper projects – e.g. self-folded mini-booklets or zine pages can be held together without needle and thread.
For Office and Paper Enthusiasts
The Harinacs mechanism is closer to a punch tool than a classic stapler: blade and counter-form work together to create the binding element from the paper stack itself – the paper literally becomes its own fastening medium. This explains why the functional principle reaches its limits with very thin paper (below 60 g/m²) or heavily coated surfaces: the tab needs enough fiber material to grip securely. With standard copy paper and light offset paper, the connection works surprisingly well – comparable to a single metal staple in holding power.
