Zenith Perforator 888 silver
The Zenith 520 is a desk stapler made from lacquered metal, manufactured by Balma, Capoduri & C. in Voghera, Lombardy – a workshop that has been building stapling devices under the Zenith name since 1926. The design is clean and restrained: rounded lines, a pull-out loading bar, nothing superfluous. Each device leaves production after an individual function test, and the lifetime warranty on manufacturing defects shows how seriously this promise is taken.
Features
- Three stapling modes: Closed stapling for permanent bonds, open stapling for temporary fastening (staple legs remain bent open), half-open stapling for medium fixation – the selector is located on the underside of the stapling plate.
- 24/10 staples with 10 mm leg length: These easily handle stacks of up to 40 sheets – perfect for thick reports, manuscripts or brochures, without the staple bending or the stroke falling short.
- Lead-free, wear and corrosion-resistant lacquer: The silver lacquer bonds permanently to the metal body; even on frequently touched edges, it shows no flaking after years of use.
- Traditional loading system with pull-out slider: Staples are fed in from the rear, the slider keeps them under tension – a mechanically simple, highly reliable system with no misfeeds.
- 290 grammes weight: Enough mass to prevent the stapler from slipping when pressed, without needing a rubber base for extra weight.
- Lifetime warranty on manufacturing defects, combined with individual testing of each device before dispatch.
Use & Tips
- For stacks up to around 20 sheets, standard 24/6 staples are sufficient. For heavier stacks up to 40 sheets, we recommend switching to 24/10 staples (10 mm leg length) – these fit into the 520's magazine without modification.
- Open stapling is ideal for notes or drafts that will be rearranged later: the bent-open legs can be straightened again with a fingernail without damaging the paper.
- Frequent users benefit from the stapler's stable position: hold it steady with one hand, feed paper with the other – the 290 g weight makes this possible single-handed.
- When reloading, pull the slider out completely, lay the staple strip flat, and push the slider back in until it clicks – no bending, no jamming.
For Manufactory Enthusiasts
Balma, Capoduri & C. is one of the few companies worldwide that still manufactures stapling devices entirely in-house – punching, lacquering and assembly all take place in the same factory in Voghera, Lombardy. The lead-free lacquer is applied using a specially developed process that bonds permanently even under industrial office conditions (repeated pressure, fluctuating office climates). The Zenith 520 carries the model designation 520/E: the "E" stands for the extension adding a third stapling mode that complements the older basic 520 model.
