Hobonichi Frame Stickers 2
The Hobonichi Frame Stickers are transparent frame stickers made from tracing paper, designed to fit perfectly with the Hobonichi Techo Original in A6 format. The sticker sheets, measuring 100 × 148 mm, feature various designs and can be applied to the date fields in the monthly calendar as well as to the daily pages. The matte, slightly textured surface of the tracing paper accepts both ballpoint pen and pencil equally well – making the frame not just decoration, but a writable part of the page.
Features
- Perfectly sized formats: The stickers are precisely matched to the monthly calendar fields of the Hobonichi Techo Original (A6). Larger variants fit on the daily pages – so each frame sits neatly within the page grid.
- Transparent tracing paper: The translucent material lies lightly on the page and allows the underlying print to show through. The slightly textured surface feels dry and matte, similar to classic tracing paper.
- Writable surface: Ballpoint pens, fineliners and pencils grip on the paper surface. The date, a day of the week or a short note can be written directly on the sticker without smudging.
- Various designs: The set contains several different frame motifs, so you can vary the design of your monthly and daily pages.
- Made in Japan: The stickers are produced in Japan and are tailored to the Hobonichi ecosystem.
Use & Tips
- Organise monthly overview: Stick a frame on the current date in the monthly calendar and write directly on the sticker – this creates visual orientation on the densely printed monthly page.
- Design daily pages: The larger stickers fit on the ruled area of the daily pages and give an entry, drawing or note a defined frame.
- Writing tool recommendation: Fine ballpoint pens and pencils work particularly reliably on the matte tracing paper surface. Water-based inks can bead on smooth tracing paper – a quick test is recommended.
- Combination with other stickers: The transparent area can be combined with coloured stickers underneath, as the motif shimmers through the material.
- Scrapbooking and memory keeping: Beyond the Hobonichi context, these frames can be used for handmade cards, photo journals or decorated notebook pages.
For Techo Enthusiasts
The tracing paper of the Frame Stickers has a similar weight to classic architectural tracing paper – light, but with a noticeable texture. If you want to write on the sticker with a fountain pen, choose a medium to broad nib and ink that runs dry; very wet inks can cause the thin material to ripple. Pencils from HB upwards, as well as fine ballpoint pens and oil-based leads, adhere reliably. Since the stickers are applied to the Tomoe River paper of the Hobonichi Techo, which itself absorbs very little ink, a brief press when sticking is recommended to ensure the adhesive surface makes full contact.
