• Ink selection: Thanks to the fine line width, ink properties such as shading and sheening are particularly effective – deeply pigmented or chromatic inks create strong accents on light paper. Document-proof inks as well as standard fountain pen inks can be used.
• Posting (cap on): The fountain pen can be used posted – the cap attached extends to 141 mm and shifts the center of gravity slightly backward, which is perceived as comfortable during longer writing sessions.
• Converter for bottled inks: With a Sailor standard converter, the entire range of bottled inks is accessible. The converter is available separately and can be inserted without tools.
• Maintenance: PMMA resin tolerates lukewarm water well; the fountain pen can be conveniently rinsed when changing ink colors. Aggressive solvents should be avoided.

The Lecoule carries the Japanese nib size "MF" – a size that Sailor cuts slightly narrower internally than comparable Western nibs of the same designation. The MF nib of the Lecoule corresponds in practice to a Western Extra-Fine. This is particularly relevant for writing with fine lines, small handwriting, or dense Kanji writing. The metal parts are nickel-plated and chrome-plated – the gold tone is a galvanic finish, not solid gold. The cap locks securely onto the threads after approximately one and a half turns, reliably preventing accidental opening in your pocket. The filling system follows the Sailor standard format: cartridges and converters from the Sailor accessories program fit directly.
