Wancher Shizuku Pen Adrastea with Glass Nib (F)
Wancher Fountain Pen Shizuku Pen “Adrastea”
Unique Glass Nib Fountain Pen with Innovative Design
The Wancher Shizuku Pen “Adrastea” is an extraordinary writing instrument that combines the characteristics of a traditional glass dip pen with the functionality of a modern fountain pen. Instead of a metal nib, this model features a handcrafted glass nib, creating a smooth and flowing writing experience.
The Shizuku series was first introduced in 2018 and revives a historic concept: fountain pens equipped with glass nibs, a design that already existed in the early 20th century. Modern engineering and materials allow this concept to return in a refined form, combining classic glass nib technology with a practical ink reservoir.
The name Adrastea is inspired by one of Jupiter’s small moons. The pen’s shimmering appearance reflects this cosmic inspiration, capturing light in a way reminiscent of celestial reflections and the delicate balance of planetary systems.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the Shizuku Pen is its hybrid design: although it uses a glass nib, it can still be filled using a converter or international standard cartridges. This allows it to function like a regular fountain pen without the need to repeatedly dip the nib into ink.
Features & Functions
- Handcrafted glass nib: Unique writing tip providing smooth ink flow
- Hybrid concept: Combines glass dip pen characteristics with a fountain pen system
- Duralumin body: Lightweight yet durable aerospace-grade metal
- Vacuum deposition finish: Advanced coating technology with subtle color variations
- Converter system: Compatible with international standard cartridges
- Individual color tones: Each pen shows slightly unique color reflections
Design & Inspiration
The Shizuku series was created to merge the elegance of traditional glass dip pens with the practicality of portable fountain pens. While conventional glass pens require dipping the nib into ink, the Shizuku pen allows continuous writing thanks to its integrated ink supply.
The color finish of the Adrastea model is achieved using a sophisticated vacuum deposition coating. This technique creates extremely thin layers of color in the nanometer range, resulting in subtle variations that make each pen visually unique.
Usage & Writing Experience
- Smooth and flowing writing experience thanks to the glass nib
- Continuous ink supply without dipping
- Ideal for creative writing, calligraphy, and collectors of unique pens
