Use & Tips

• Fountain pens and inks: MD Paper works beautifully with all common fountain pen nibs – from fine EF nibs to stub nibs. Even strongly-pigmented iron gall inks show barely any show-through on the reverse. Those using shimmering or iridescent inks will see the sheen effect particularly well on the smooth surface.
• Combine bullet journalling with daily log: The time-grid on the left suits a rapid-log structure, while collections, mind maps, or drawings find space on the right. Both pages complement each other without one dominating the other.
• Travel diary: The square format fits into many bags too narrow for standard A5. Tickets, boarding passes, or small finds can be pasted on the right; the day's schedule goes on the left.
• Flexible date use: If you don't maintain the diary daily, simply write a date only on the active days. This creates a complete personal archive with no blank pages.
• Index stickers as chapter markers: Stick the numbered stickers to the page edge as a monthly register – you can quickly return to past entries without flipping through.

MD Paper has been continuously refined since the 1960s for use with fountain pens. The surface is not industrially calendered-smooth, but has a fine, velvety texture that accepts inks evenly without absorbing them. This means: the ink sits on top of the fibre, dries cleanly, and shows full colour depth. Stub nibs and flex nibs benefit particularly – broad wet lines don't feather, fine hairlines stay crisp. White correction ink adheres less well to MD Paper than to coated papers; for such applications, the back of an insert sheet or alternative paper is recommended.
