Uni Ballpoint Pen Jetstream Ocean Plastic light blue

The Jetstream Ocean Plastic is a ballpoint pen by Mitsubishi Uni, its barrel made almost entirely from recycled ocean plastic – including marine waste and reconditioned contact lens cases. The matte light blue barrel captures the calm colours of the ocean; the clip design draws inspiration from the Möbius strip, reflecting the circular economy thinking behind the material. Despite its origins, it runs on the familiar Jetstream ink: oil-based, low-viscosity, deep black.

• Barrel made from recycled ocean plastic: The barrel is composed of nearly 100 % recycled material – marine waste and reconditioned disposable contact lens cases. The barrel has been awarded the Eco Mark in Japan (product category no. 164 "Products Made from Recycled Marine Plastic Waste") – the first writing instrument ever to receive this certification in this category.
• Matte finish, pleasant grip: The matte lacquered barrel feels cool and subtly textured in the hand – no slipping during extended writing, no fingerprint sheen.

• Jetstream ink, 0.7 mm, black, oil-based: The low-viscosity oil-based ink flows evenly with no pressure points or smudging. The line is cleanly defined, the black rich and opaque.
• Document-proof, water and light-resistant: The ink is document-proof – suitable for contracts, forms and signatures where permanent legibility matters.
• Refillable: Compatible with the SXR-7 refill (0.7 mm), available separately.

• Everyday writing on smooth paper: On calendered or coated paper, the 0.7 mm oil-based ink delivers its best line – the stroke remains sharp without bleeding or fraying.
• Left-handers: The oil-based Jetstream ink dries quickly at the writing edge; smudging with left-handed writing is significantly reduced.
• Signatures and documents: Document-proof, water and light-resistant ink – ideal for anything requiring long-term storage: contracts, official forms, notebooks as permanent records.
• Refilling the refill: With an SXR-7 refill, the pen is easily refilled and reused – the ocean plastic barrel doesn't need to be discarded.
• On the go: With its cap and slim format (144 × 11 mm), the pen fits safely into any shirt pocket or notebook spine pouch.

The Jetstream Ocean Plastic is the first writing instrument to receive the Eco Mark certification in Japan for the product category of items made from recycled marine plastic. The barrel is not simply made from collected marine debris: a substantial proportion of the recycled material comes from used disposable contact lens cases – a plastic waste stream that is otherwise rarely captured. The colour shades of the barrel may vary slightly, as the raw material is naturally inhomogeneous – each pen is thus a small unique piece made from ocean waste.
