The MD Notebook by MD Product is a Japanese A6 notebook that consistently focuses on its core material: the cream-colored MD Paper, a writing paper with 80 g/m² that has been continuously developed since the 1960s. The lined version features 7-mm lines with a distinctly reinforced center line – a simple yet precise design choice that visually structures every page. The cover is transparent parchment paper, the spine is reinforced with cotton gauze and remains visible – deliberately unpretentious.

• MD Paper, 80 g/m², cream-colored: The paper was specifically developed for a wide range of writing instruments – ink flows evenly without feathering or bleeding through. Fountain pens glide across the smooth, slightly creamy surface with virtually no resistance. Pencils, gel pens, and oil-based ballpoint pens also write cleanly.
• 7-mm ruling with reinforced center line: Each page can be visually divided into two independent halves through the bold center line. A double spread creates four usable fields – practical for structured notes, diary entries, or layouts with text and sketch side by side.
• Traditional Japanese thread binding: 16-page signatures are individually sewn with thread and then bound together. The result: the notebook opens a full 180 degrees and lies completely flat on the table – no warping in the middle, no pages springing back.

MD Paper was originally developed as diary paper and has been continuously refined since then. The creamy tone is no accident: it reduces the contrast between white paper and dark ink, which relieves eye strain during extended writing. The thread binding works with 16-page signatures – each signature is sewn separately, which not only enables flat lying but also prevents individual pages from warping due to moisture (such as from water-based ink application). The ruling is in light gray and does not interfere with handwriting – with inks featuring strong sheening or shading, the line guidance remains subtle in the background.
