The Stalogy 018 Editor's Series 365 Days is a Japanese notebook for a full year – in compact B6 format, sewn with thread and with a layout that works as a daily planner, diary or sketchbook depending on your needs. The paper weighs 52 g/m², placing it in the Hobonichi paper range, yet takes ink remarkably cleanly. The light blue finish is part of a limited special colour series and gives the understated cover a fresh, calm aesthetic.

Features

  • 368 pages for a full year: One page per day – but without fixed dates. The field at the top can be filled in freely or circled, so you can start at any time of year.
  • 5 mm grid in light grey: The fine, pale lines don't interfere with your handwriting but help align lists, tables and sketches. On a small format like this, it makes a real difference compared to heavier grids.
  • Time axis 0–24 h on the left margin: Tiny pre-printed hour numbers allow spontaneous daily structuring without turning the page into a fixed hourly grid – if you want to ignore them, you'll barely notice they're there.
  • 52 g/m² paper, sewn with thread: The thin paper keeps the book slim despite 368 pages – it lies flat on the desk and opens completely, right to the last sheet. The thread binding holds the block together permanently.
  • Fountain pen friendly and fade-proof: The paper takes most fountain pen inks cleanly, without feathering or bleeding. Show-through is visible but bleed-through does not occur with normal ink application.
  • Undated layout: No year reference – the notebook can be used at any time without needing to buy a new one.
  • Light blue cover (special colour): Sturdy, subtly textured softcover board with discreet gold foiling. The light blue finish is part of the limited special colour series.

Use & Tips

  • As a daily planner: The combination of a freely fillable date header and time axis creates a functional daily page – appointments on the left margin, notes in the grid to the right.
  • As a bullet journal in pocket format: The 5 mm grid provides around 23 × 32 fields per B6 page – enough for monthly overviews, trackers and task lists without running out of space.
  • With fountain pen and flowing ink: The paper works well with wet nibs and fluid inks. Fine and medium nibs produce sharp lines; with stub nibs you get beautiful ink effects as long as the ink application stays moderate.
  • With fineliner and gel refills: Fineliners under 0.5 mm occasionally show slight show-through but no bleed-through. Fast-drying gel refills or oil-based ballpoint refills work without problems.
  • On the go: The slim profile of the B6 format fits into almost any bag. Cover accessories (such as pen loops) can be easily added later.
  • Year transitions: Since no printed year appears in the notebook, a started copy simply continues – no effort at year-end, no wasted paper.

For Planning Enthusiasts

The Stalogy 018 was developed by Nitoms (Sonic Co., Ltd., Osaka) and won the Design Award in 2015 at Japan's largest stationery trade fair. The core of the concept is the separation of structure and freedom: the pre-printed elements – date header, time axis, grid – are printed so pale and restrained that they completely recede into the background during use. The 52 g/m² paper was specially developed for thin books with high page counts; it is whiter and slightly firmer to the touch than Tomoe River paper, but shows similar properties when wet inks dry. The thread binding – not adhesive binding – allows the notebook to lie completely flat without spine wear, which you'll really notice with daily use over a full year.
