Postalco Snap Pad School Bus Yellow (A5)

The Postalco Snap Pad is a hand-crafted Japanese clipboard notebook with a patented two-clamp metal closure that securely holds loose sheets and can be refilled at any time. The cover is made from starch-pressed cotton fabric in vibrant School Bus Yellow – a rich, warm yellow that lightens with use and makes the canvas weave pattern more visible. The A5 format at 16 × 23 cm provides ample space for extensive notes, sketches or daily planning without dominating your desk. Postalco was founded in Brooklyn and now operates from Tokyo, collaborating with Japanese family businesses and specialised workshops.

Features

• Patented Snap closure: Two metal clamps securely hold up to approximately 100 sheets in place. Sheets can be inserted, removed or rearranged individually – no glue, no spiral, no binding that eventually fails.
• Pressed-cotton cover in School Bus Yellow: The starch-treated cotton fabric is PFAS-free and given a subtle water-repellent finish. It was manufactured on the same machines once used for tent fabric – the cover is accordingly robust and pleasantly matt-textured to the touch.
• Compatibility with standard punching: The hole spacing follows the two-hole standard widely used in Europe and Asia. Any paper can simply be punched and clamped in – A4 sheets folded in half fit directly into the A5 format.
• Holds up to approximately 100 sheets: Sufficient capacity to manage several paper types simultaneously – grid, blank, shorthand paper, calendar pages.
• Expandable with Snap accessories: Snap Pockets, Fabric Tabs and Snap calendar pages can be clamped directly in and modularly extend the system.

Use & Tips

• Insert your own paper: Fold A4 paper in half, cut, punch twice at the top – done. This saves costs and allows you to use any paper that works well with fountain pens, fineliner pens or pencils.
• Combine mixed contents: Work and personal, planning and sketches, calendar and notes – whoever inserts different paper types simultaneously can separate contents without maintaining multiple notebooks.
• Fabric Tabs for orientation: The fabric tabs can be labelled with ballpoint, permanent marker or pencil. Attached to a blank sheet, they visibly mark a section from the edge.
• Snap Pockets for small items: The asymmetrical flap of the pockets can be kept open or closed in the pad – practical for business cards, receipts or postcards.
• Use with a fountain pen: Postalco's own Snap paper is designed for ballpoints, gel refills, pencils and fountain pens – lightly textured surface without fraying, with excellent ink control. Your own fountain pen-safe paper works just as reliably in the A5 Snap Pad.

For Paper Enthusiasts

Postalco's pressed-cotton fabric contains no PFAS chemicals (so-called "forever chemicals") – a production decision that is not yet standard in textile finishing for paper products. The School Bus Yellow colour is built on white base threads: with increasing use, these base threads become more prominent, the yellow brightens, the canvas weave pattern becomes more visible. This is not wear and tear, but the material showing its history. The Snap closure follows the European and Asian two-hole standard (hole spacing 6 mm, compatible with the Postalco PLUS 2-hole punch), meaning: in principle any locally available paper can be used without importing refills.
