The Hobonichi Cover Leather: Taut in Gray & Light Blue is a snug-fitting cowhide cover for the Hobonichi Weeks. The leather used is called Seta Double – tanned by the northern Italian tannery Poletto using the chrome tanning process, named after the Italian word for silk. Warm gray on the outside, cool light blue on the inside. The cover fits so snugly around the planner that when closed it looks as taut and compact as the series name promises.

Seta Double is a chrome-tanned leather that, through the tanning process, acquires a particularly uniform, slightly matte surface – unlike vegetable-tanned leather, it does not develop a pronounced patina with strong color deepening, but ages pleasantly and supple. The two-tone dyeing process is not a simple two-layer pigment process: the two color tones are worked into the single leather so that front and back differ in color, while the leather itself remains single-ply and full-strength. Naturally occurring grain structures, veinlets, and fine wrinkles from the animal's life are individual on every example – at Hobonichi, these features are explicitly considered a quality mark, not a defect.
