The "ONE PIECE magazine: Episode 1000" cover is a collaboration case for the Hobonichi Techo Cousin (A5) that brings together two central elements from Chapter 1000 of Volume 99 of the manga: the finished original artwork and the storyboard sketches from the same chapter. The clever twist lies in the included PVC cover-on-cover — a removable clear layer that displays the original artwork and either conceals or reveals the underlying storyboard design depending on whether it's attached or not. This gives you two distinctly different looks in a single cover.

Features

  • Dual design through cover-on-cover: Beneath the attached cover-on-cover, the storyboard from Chapter 1000 is printed; the cover-on-cover itself displays the finished manga artwork from the same chapter. Both layers are standalone, fully realised designs — not merely a protective film.
  • Butterfly-stopper pen loops as closure: The so-called butterfly-stopper refers to the pen holders on both sides of the case. When you thread a pen through both loops, it functions like a hinge and keeps the case closed — protecting the pages from creasing.
  • Two bookmarks: The case includes two bookmarks — one with a rectangular charm and one with a triangular charm. This lets you mark two locations simultaneously, such as the monthly overview and your current daily page.
  • Outer case material: Polyester inside and out — a matte, subtly textured fabric that holds print colours beautifully and withstands daily use. The cover-on-cover is made from PVC and can be removed without any residue.
  • Compatibility: This A5 case is designed for the Hobonichi Techo Cousin book (A5 format, sold separately). Also fits Cousin Avec and Day-Free A5.

Use & Tips

  • Attach or remove the cover-on-cover: The PVC attachment can be swapped at any time — with the cover-on-cover attached, you see the finished manga panel; without it, the hand-drawn storyboard shows. If you want to display both sides, you can switch daily or choose based on occasion.
  • Use a pen as a closure: Threading a pen through both butterfly-stopper loops securely closes the case — practical in a bag where open cases can crush pages. Slim pens with smooth shafts slide through most easily.
  • Make smart use of the pockets: The case offers pockets inside and outside in various sizes — from narrow slots for business cards to larger compartments for postcards. Travel tickets, sticky notes or a magnifying glass for storyboard details fit nicely here.
  • The cover-on-cover protects the polyester outer material from abrasion and dirt in everyday use — especially when frequently transported in a rucksack or handbag, this is a welcome side effect alongside the design change.
  • Diary block choice: The cover fits the Hobonichi Cousin (one page per day), Cousin Avec (two half-year volumes) and Day-Free A5. If you want to sketch or layout manga scenes, go for Day-Free — the blank pages give you unlimited creative space.

For Hobonichi Enthusiasts

The cover-on-cover is specifically designed for the "Colours" series and printed Hobonichi cases with butterfly-stoppers — the "Episode 1000" cover is explicitly among the compatible models. Not compatible with cases made from PVC, leather or faux leather, which is why this polyester cover is ideally positioned: it accommodates the PVC attachment without strain. The storyboard design on the main case is printed directly into the polyester fabric — not glued on, no separate insert. The PVC cover-on-cover lies snugly but without tension over the fabric and can be reattached without creasing or warping, even after frequent removal.
