Hobonichi Alettone: Document Case for A6 Size (Brown)

The Alettone document case by Hobonichi is a streamlined A6 folder made of soft PVC that bundles the Techo HON, writing instruments and small documents in a readily accessible format. The name "Alettone" derives from the aileron of an aircraft (Italian alettone) – named after the way the lid snaps shut with a click and lies flat. At just 75 g and a mere 8 mm deep, the folder barely weighs on your pocket or rucksack. The warm brown tone feels grounded and understated, without appearing washed out.

Features

• Soft PVC, pleasant to handle: The material gives slightly, moulds to its contents and feels grippy and supple – neither stiff nor sticky. The surface can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
• Press-stud closure: Two press-studs keep the folder securely closed, with no zip-fiddling required. Opening works one-handed – perfect when you need to flip open your Techo quickly.
• Clear pockets on both sides: The transparent front lets you see the contents at a glance – business cards, sticky notes or stickers remain visible without needing to remove them.
• Back pocket for quick access: Tickets, receipts, adhesive notes or a folded map can be stored here and retrieved without opening the folder.
• Gold foil embossing on the front: "Writing by hand is like sending your mind on a journey" – stamped in gold foil, subtle and durable.
• Perfect fit for the A6 Hobonichi Techo HON: Laid horizontally, the notebook sits precisely in place – no slipping, no overhang.
• Lightweight and slim: 75 g, 150 × 190 × 8 mm – thin enough to slip as an insert into any laptop bag or structured rucksack.

Use & Tips

• Techo + pen + extras in one grasp: Place the A6 Techo HON horizontally inside, tuck a slim fountain pen or fineliner behind it, pop stickers in the clear front pocket – and your daily writing set is complete.
• A pocket-sized organiser on the go: Train tickets, receipts or loyalty cards in the back pocket, ongoing notes or sticky notes in the clear inner pocket. This keeps your Techo itself clean and undisturbed.
• Desk organiser: On the work table as an open holder for your current notebook and writing tools – the flat form stacks easily beneath other folders or books.
• As a standalone document case: Even without a Techo, the Alettone works as a compact sleeve for A6 printouts, recipe cards, travel documents in compact format or postcards.
• Care: A soft, slightly damp cloth is all you need – no solvents, no soaking. PVC remains dimensionally stable as long as it is not permanently exposed to high heat.

For Hobonichi Enthusiasts

The Alettone concept follows the Hobonichi philosophy of designing accessories that complement the Techo without overwhelming it. The transparent sight pockets on both sides are no accident: Hobonichi users who work with stickers, washi tape snippets or ephemera can keep materials visible and within reach, without burdening the bookblock itself. The landscape insert trick (A6 HON horizontal) is typical of Hobonichi accessories – the format is deliberately used to achieve a snug, wobble-free fit. The case is also available in A5, making it a scalable solution for various Techo formats.
