Postalco Mini Wallet Cobalt Blue
The Postalco Mini Wallet in Cobalt Blue is a slim leather wallet stripped back to essentials: cards, notes, coins – all securely stored in minimal space. The exterior is crafted from embossed, vegetable-tanned crossgrain leather with aniline dyes, developing a distinctive patina over time. Inside, supple calf leather meets pigskin lining in the pockets. Handmade in Japan.
Features
- Crossgrain embossing in vegetable-tanned, aniline-dyed leather – the fine grain visually absorbs everyday scratches within its texture, so the wallet won't look worn with use
- Recessed brass press stud – sits flush with the leather surface, closes securely and remains unnoticed when carrying in your back pocket
- Zip coin pocket for coins or a slim key – contents stay put, no rattling, nothing falls out
- Two separate card slots holding up to 8 credit cards total – enough for a clear personal/business separation or cards plus folded notes
- Open exterior pocket for receipts, tickets or your most-used card – accessible without opening the press stud
- Hand-polished edges following traditional Japanese leather craft – cut edges are smooth and evenly sealed, not simply stamped
- Interior lining in calf leather (vegetable-tanned, aniline-dyed) and pigskin in the pockets – both materials have enough grip so cards won't slip out
- Compact format 7 × 10.5 cm – lies flat in jacket or back pocket without bulging
Use & Tips
- Divide the two card slots functionally: one for daily cards (debit, credit, public transport), one for occasional ones (membership cards, ID) – so you always have the right one on top
- The zip pocket also holds a slim house key, making the wallet a standalone carry tool without needing a separate keyring
- The exterior pocket works perfectly as a quick drop for parking permits or receipts – in and out quickly, no need to open the press stud
- Aniline-dyed leather is sensitive to moisture: if wet, dab gently rather than rubbing, then air-dry in the shade (manufacturer recommendation)
- The leather becomes softer and more supple with regular use – if you wish, care for the surface occasionally with a colourless leather balm to encourage even patina development
- The Cobalt Blue will develop deeper, slightly uneven tones at edges and creases over time – a typical progression for vegetable-tanned aniline leather
For Leather Enthusiasts
Vegetable-tanned leather – as used here for the crossgrain exterior and calf leather lining – is treated with plant-based tannins (usually tannin from tree bark). The result is firmer, denser leather than chrome-tanned alternatives, which holds embossing like the crossgrain texture permanently whilst remaining receptive to the characteristic patina process. Aniline-dyed leather gets its colour purely from transparent dyes that penetrate the leather surface – the natural grain structure remains visible, and no opaque topcoat dulls the feel. This makes the surface more sensitive to moisture and oils, but also longer-lasting in colour depth than pigmented alternatives.
