Lamy Fountain Pen Lx marron (EF)

The Lamy Lx marron is a fountain pen crafted from anodised aluminium in a warm, bronze-toned marron – a colour that shifts between deep chestnut brown and soft copper depending on the light. The clip and accents are finished in bronze, whilst the transparent grip section in plastic reveals the ink flow and cartridge level. The stainless steel nib in EF is black PVD-coated and designed for fine, precise writing. Manufactured in Germany and supplied ready to use with a LAMY T10 ink cartridge.

Use & Tips

• EF on smooth paper: An extra-fine nib performs best on calendered or satin-finish papers – it flows smoothly and without catching. On rough paper, EF can scratch easily; switching to smooth paper is worthwhile.
• Ink level check without opening: Through the transparent grip section, you can read the fill level of the LAMY T10 cartridge or an inserted Z28 converter directly – handy for daily use in the office or on the go.
• With bottled ink: The LAMY Z28 converter (sold separately) transforms the Lx marron into a full piston filler. Water-based inks with higher viscosity work well with the EF nib; chromatic or highly coloured inks really shine on smooth paper.
• As an everyday companion: The light aluminium body (approx. 24 g with cap) causes less hand fatigue during extended writing sessions than heavier metal pens. The ergonomic grip section supports a relaxed posture without tension.
• Care: Before changing inks, rinse the pen thoroughly with lukewarm water – especially when using inks with colour pigments or iron gall inks, which can damage the steel nib over time.

For Fountain Pen Enthusiasts

The nib of the Lamy Lx is a stainless steel nib from the Z52 series, black PVD-coated and laser-etched – the coating is purely cosmetic and does not alter the writing performance. EF by Lamy corresponds to a line width of approximately 0.35–0.4 mm on smooth paper, which by European standards represents a fine line. Iron gall inks and other highly oxidising formulations should generally be used cautiously with steel nib pens – dye-based inks that are not document-permanent are the recommended choice for this model. The LAMY T10 ink cartridge is a dye-based ink and accordingly not document-permanent.
