Lamy Fountain Pen Lx marron (F)

The Lamy Lx in Marron is a fountain pen crafted from double-anodised aluminium in a deep, warm dark brown – matt-silky to the touch, with a characteristic clip and colour-matched metal details that echo the barrel's tone. The transparent, ergonomically shaped grip section in premium resin reveals the pen's inner workings and sits cool and pleasantly compact in the hand. The replaceable stainless steel nib is black PVD-coated and laser-engraved – an unusual detail for this price range. Supplied complete with a matching Marron aluminium metal case.

• Double-anodised aluminium barrel in Marron: The dual anodising process creates a particularly deep, even colour saturation and a robust surface that resists scratches and everyday wear exceptionally well.
• Stainless steel nib with PVD coating and laser engraving: The black PVD layer protects the nib and gives it a refined, matt finish – visually and tactilely a clear difference from polished standard nibs. Nib size F (fine) for precise, elegant writing.

Use & Tips

• The fine F nib size suits smaller handwriting and narrow-lined notebooks. On smooth, ink-proof paper – such as calendered paper at 90 g/m² – the nib delivers full line precision without feathering.
• Inks with medium viscosity – both watery iron gall inks and classic dye-based inks – flow reliably through the LAMY feed system. Very wet, heavily pigmented colour inks may feather slightly on absorbent paper; on smooth paper this is not an issue.
• To switch to bottled ink, we recommend the LAMY Z28 converter: simply remove the cartridge, insert the converter, dip it in the ink bottle and turn the screw fully. The transparent grip section makes the fill level clearly visible.
• The stainless steel nib is interchangeable with other LAMY nib assemblies (compatible Lx nibs in various sizes) – an advantage for those who want to use the same pen with different line widths.
• LAMY tests every fountain pen before dispatch. Visible ink residue in the nib area is a sign of this quality control and not an indication of prior use.
• The metal case is excellent for travel protection, keeping the pen safe from pressure and impact whilst in a rucksack.

The Lx (pronounced "Luxe") was created for the 50th anniversary of Bauhaus-inspired Lamy design and shares its feed system with the AL-star – the nib assemblies of both series are mutually compatible. The key difference lies in the finishing details: double anodising instead of single, PVD-coated and laser-engraved nib instead of polished standard nib, colour-matched plated clip instead of silver. The black PVD nib creates an optical contrast to the Marron barrel whilst being more corrosion-resistant than uncoated steel. The grip section in premium resin features a subtly triangular, convex contour – noticeably softer and grippier than straight plastic. If you prefer bottled ink: the Z28 converter holds approximately 0.6 ml, the T10 large-capacity cartridge slightly more. Both systems can be switched without tools.
