TWSBI Piston Filler ECO-T Clear
The TWSBI ECO-T Clear is a piston filler with a stainless steel nib and completely transparent plastic body – cap, grip section, and end cap in characteristic triangular form. The triangular grip section noticeably structures finger positioning and naturally guides the hand into a correct writing posture. The ECO-T is filled directly: unscrew the end cap, dip the nib into the ink, screw the end cap back on – no converter, no cartridge, no intermediate step.

- Not cartridge compatible: The ECO-T uses exclusively the built-in piston mechanism. Ink cartridges do not fit.
- Supplied without ink: The pen comes without ink – the choice of ink remains completely open.
Application & Tips
- Filling: Unscrew the end cap at the rear of the pen, fully immerse the nib in an ink bottle and slowly turn the end cap back on – the piston draws in the ink. For maximum fill capacity, repeat the process once: briefly expel, then draw in again.
- Ink selection: With the clear transparent appearance, color-intensive, chromatic inks look particularly striking – shading inks display their color play through the body. Water-based fountain pen inks work without problems; pigmented or highly document-resistant inks should be rinsed regularly after use to preserve the piston mechanism.
- 1.1 broad nib for hand lettering: The 1.1 nib writes with a broad line and immediately gives simple print scripts more character. Ink with good shading enhances the effect further.
- Learning writing posture: The triangular grip section works well as a corrective for ingrained poor posture – the surfaces provide noticeable feedback as soon as the fingers slip.
- Cleaning: Rinse the piston with lukewarm water until the water runs clear. The ECO-T can be disassembled without tools; TWSBI provides replacement parts for the piston mechanism.
For Pen Enthusiasts
The ECO-T uses the same nib base as the classic ECO, but with an adjusted grip section cross-section: instead of round, consistently triangular prismatic, which increases the torsional rigidity of the grip section and holds the nib in a defined angular position. This is particularly relevant for the 1.1 broad nib, as the nib must be held exactly in the intended alignment for a uniform line. The transparent body consists of clear acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene-free plastic resin that remains optically clear even after intensive ink contact. TWSBI manufactures in Taiwan with its own tool and mold production – replacement parts for the piston seal and mechanism are available separately and can be replaced without specialized tools.
