El Casco Desk Stapler M10CN black-chrome
The El Casco M10CN is a desk stapler made from steel and zamak, manufactured in Spain – in a form that has remained unchanged for over 70 years. The black body features a five-stage hand-finished surface, while the fittings are finished in copper, nickel and chrome. At 380 g with a solidly engineered interior, it delivers a satisfying, tactile response when stapling – without requiring extra pressure.
Features
- Three stapling modes via adjustment screw: The rotating anvil beneath the base allows you to switch between closed, half-open and open stapling – without tools. Open stapling holds papers together temporarily and releases easily; closed stapling sits permanently and flat.
- Enclosed staple channel: The channel guides the staple precisely without jamming – a detail that harks back to its crafted origins in revolver barrel manufacturing and ensures reliable operation.
- Five-stage hand finishing: Each surface is manually polished and processed in multiple stages. The result: a cool, smooth chrome finish on the metal parts and a deep, even black lacquer on the body.
- Also usable as a tacker: The stapler opens flat 180° and can be used freestanding as a tacker – for fabric, cardboard or posters.
- 100-staple capacity: The magazine holds a full box of 24/6 staples, so reloading is rarely needed.
- Serial numbers on precision parts: Individual components bear serial numbers – testament to manufacturing where each part is individually inspected and calibrated.
Use & Tips
- Daily office use: Up to 25 sheets can be stapled in one smooth stroke. The 80 mm insertion depth allows stapling near the centre of the paper – ideal for folded booklets or brochures.
- 24/6 staples: A box is included. Refills are available as a standard format everywhere. No special staples required.
- Tacker mode: Rotate the anvil beneath the base and open the stapler – and you have a freestanding tacker ready for pinboards, fabric or thicker materials.
- Surface care: The chrome finish can be refreshed with a soft, dry cloth. Fingerprints on the black lacquer can be removed with a slightly damp cloth.
- Gift packaging: The stapler comes in a black gift box – ready to present as a gift without any extra effort.
For Desk Enthusiasts
El Casco was founded in 1920 as a revolver factory magazine in Eibar, Spain. The staple channel of the M10CN directs the staple using the same principle that guides a bullet through a revolver barrel – precisely, linearly, without tolerance. Steel and zamak (a zinc alloy) are combined: steel for the load-bearing and sprung parts, zamak for the cast form parts with their distinct weight. The copper-nickel-chrome plating is not a single-step process – each layer serves its own function (adhesion, corrosion protection, appearance) before manual polishing completes the finish. The design was developed in 1932 and has remained unchanged since.
