Stalogy Ballpoint Pen 000 Classic gray
The Stalogy 000 Classic is a brass ballpoint with a high-gloss lacquer finish in muted grey – a seamless barrel without seams or transitions that feels perfectly balanced in hand despite its weight. Inside, a low-viscosity oil-based ink with a 0.5 mm tip delivers noticeably smoother writing than conventional ballpoint ink. The pen opens via a twist mechanism at the top – a motion that responds with a light, satisfying resistance.
Features
- Brass barrel with high-gloss lacquer: The solid brass body gives the pen substantial weight that stabilises your writing. The glossy grey lacquer is smooth and cool to the touch – free from textured grip zones, because the weight itself provides the guidance.
- Seamless one-piece barrel: The barrel has no visible joints or transitions between grip section and body. It sits in your hand as a homogeneous cylinder – visually minimal, tactilely precise.
- Twist mechanism: The nib extends and retracts in both directions by twisting the top end. The mechanism operates with a pleasantly firm rotational resistance – no loose clicking, but a controlled gesture.
- Low-viscosity oil-based ink, 0.5 mm: Lower viscosity means less friction between ball and paper – the line flows evenly, dries faster and resists smudging. The 0.5 mm tip allows fine, slender lines even for small handwriting or tight line spacing.
- Matching clip with engraved logo: The broad clip matches the same grey lacquer as the barrel and bears the engraved STÁLOGY text – no printed decal, but a permanent indent in the metal.
- Black ink: The ink is black and formulated for contrast and legibility in everyday documentation.
Use & Tips
- Fine everyday writing: The 0.5 mm tip is ideal for tight grids, small-format planners or notebooks with dense layouts – the line remains defined even when writing quickly and doesn't run.
- Paper compatibility: Low-viscosity oil-based ink is less moisture-intensive than fountain pen ink and performs reliably even on slightly woody paper without excessive absorption. On smooth, calendered paper, the ink shows its full fluidity.
- Left-handed use: The quick-drying property of the low-viscosity oil base reduces smudging when passing over freshly written lines – a practical advantage over water-based inks.
- Storage and transport: The broad, sturdy clip secures the pen safely in notebook bands or jacket pockets. The twist mechanism reliably protects the nib from accidentally extending in your bag.
- Refillability: The 000 Classic is refillable – compatible Stalogy refills with low-viscosity oil-based ink in 0.5 mm are available separately (SS1003).
For Ballpoint Enthusiasts
Low-viscosity oil-based ink uses a thinner oil base than classic ballpoint paste. This allows more even ink flow across the ball, less residue on the tip, and line quality that approaches gel feel – without the drying time of water-based gel. The 000 Classic's brass barrel is deliberately heavier than a typical everyday pen: the weight reduces the pressure needed when writing, which eases hand fatigue during extended writing sessions.
