Stalogy Ballpoint Pen 000 Classic camel
The Stalogy 000 Classic is a ballpoint made from brass with a glossy lacquered finish – clean-lined body, no visible seams or joints, in a warm camel tone that gives the metal a soft, earthy depth. The refill extends via a twist mechanism: turn the cap left or right, and the tip slides in or out – no button, no click, just a calm, precise gesture. Inside, a low-viscosity oil-based ink in 0.5 mm produces an unusually fluid and smooth writing experience for a ballpoint.
Features
- Brass body with high-gloss lacquer: The brass gives the pen substantial weight that keeps your hand steady while writing. The smooth, slightly cool surface grips firmly without slipping. The camel lacquer is warm brownish with a silky sheen – not an applied colour, but a tone that breathes with the metal.
- Seamless straight barrel: The body runs continuously straight with no joints or shoulders – visually clean, evenly balanced in the hand. No section is designated as a grip zone; the pen balances uniformly across its entire length on your fingers.
- Twist mechanism (Rotary Extension): The tip extends and retracts by turning the cap in either direction. This gives opening and closing the pen a different quality than a push button – more concentrated, calmer, with a gentle resistance that feels substantial.
- Low-viscosity oil-based ink, 0.5 mm: Low viscosity means the ink flows more freely than conventional ballpoint ink. The result is significantly reduced writing friction, a more even line, and faster drying on paper. The refill writes in black, not archive quality.
- Clip in body colour with engraving: The wide clip is camel-coloured and carries engraved Stalogy lettering – no sticker, no printing, just worked into the metal itself.
Use & Tips
- Daily notes and lists: The 0.5 mm tip produces a fine, clearly defined line – legible even with tight line spacing or small script in dense notebooks.
- Smooth, calendered paper: Low-viscosity oil-based ink performs particularly evenly on smooth paper. The line stays clean, dries quickly, and won't smudge when you turn the page briskly.
- Left-handers: Thanks to the fast-drying low-viscosity ink, this pen is far more practical for everyday left-handed use than standard ballpoints with high-viscosity ink.
- Carrying without cap: The twist mechanism reliably protects the refill in your pocket or case – no accidental extension, no ink marks.
- Refill replacement: The Stalogy 000 Classic uses its own Stalogy ballpoint refill (SS1003, 0.5 mm, Black), available separately.
For Stationery Enthusiasts
Product design: Fumie Shibata, packaging design: Manabu Mizuno – the 000 Classic was created with the ambition to make a ballpoint that convinces as an object even when unused. Brass is a living material: the surface changes over time and with use, the lacquer picks up marks of wear. Those familiar with brass writing instruments know this isn't a weakness – it's the beginning of patina. The low-viscosity oil-based ink combines the writing properties of an oil colour with a fluidity more commonly found in gel inks: no scratching, no skipping, no blotting when you lift the pen.
