TRC brass pencil holder

A wooden pencil in a sleeve made of solid brass – this is the TRC Pencil by Traveler's Company. When assembled, at just under 10 cm long it fits into any shirt or jacket pocket. For writing, the pencil is inserted into the sleeve, giving a pleasantly long writing length of approximately 14 cm. The brass oxidises with use and develops a distinctive, individual patina – no two pencils will look the same after a few weeks of use.

• Pencil on Tomoe River paper: the soft pencil line glides across the smooth surface without resistance, erasure marks leave no tears.
• Ideal for sketches and quick notes in your notebook on the go – pencil can be corrected, fixed with fixative spray, or left as is.
• To accelerate patina development: brass responds to hand perspiration, humidity and touch. Simply use it daily – the rest happens naturally.
• To keep the surface bright: treat occasionally with a soft cloth and some brass polish – this preserves the warm golden-yellow tone.

• For sharpening, a good barrel sharpener or knife is recommended – this keeps the lead sharp and the wooden casing clean.

Brass is a copper-zinc alloy supplied without surface coating – the bare surface begins to oxidise immediately upon contact with air and skin oils. The result is warm browns and golds that develop completely differently depending on how intensively the pencil is used and how it is carried.
